His mercies are new every morning! Great is God’s faithfulness!
Today was another anointed service full of worship and praise to God.
Continuing with the Check your Fruit teaching from Galatians 5:22-23, our Pastor Terry L.Brown Sr. focused today’s message on Patience.
In a microwave society where many are used to and desire quick and instant results, patience is something that our world lacks and that all of us can use more of.
Patience.
In 1 Corinthians 13:4, the Bible says that Love is patient.
It is choosing to love another person despite of who they are—to bear with other people’s faults.
It has to do with our reactions.
When we pray, we have to be careful: often times, when we ask God to give us more, say, patience, He will often present situations to us in which we will need to exercise patience.
There are 3 things/circumstances that can test and/or develop our patience:
1. Waiting
We often ask God, “How long?” when we are waiting for things that we have been praying for. We are confined by time but God is not. In Isaiah 60:22, His word says, “when the time is right, I the Lord, will make it happen.” We must learn to trust God’s timing.
2. Suffering
When things go wrong, or bad things happen, we ask God, “Why?” Our finite minds cannot understand or compare to God’s infinite wisdom. God’s ways are higher than ours and be have to believe that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
3. People
God is patient with us, giving us all time to come to Him and get it right. So why is it so hard for us to be patient with others? Ephesians 4:2 says, “ Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” We must learn to love people as they are, not for who we want them to be.
Jesus Christ was the epitome of patience. He was patient with sinners, He was patient with His disciples, and He patiently endured the Cross for us without saying a word.
As always, God’s word has the remedy to everything we encounter in life. As we go about our day, and week, when life tries us and starts lifeing, let us remember 3 things from Romans 12:12: “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."
