Over the years, many ministries has been birthed from this great organization. In 1955 God informed Overseer Hargrove that she was chosen to preach the Gospel. Now we all know that during that time, in the 50's, it was very rare to hear of a woman preacher. That did not discourage her. Being a very quiet and humble young woman of God, she did not doubt what God has assigned for her to do. By recei
ving words from her mother to do what God had told her to do, she began to preach the word. God began to edify her ministry. In 1958, Overseer Hargrove along with her husband and children moved to Newport News, Virginia. She knew God was in control and he had her in Virginia for a reason. The Lord God lead her to Morning Star Holiness Church, where at that time, Lucy Porter was Pastor. She became a member and began to work in many capacities faithfully. Six years later in 1964, being a full-time wife and mother, she was called to a higher calling, Pastoralship. She became Pastor of Zion of Joy Church in Newport News, Virginia. Souls were saved, bodies were healed, and yokes were being destroyed under this woman of God's ministry. This was only the beginning. In 1968, the spirit of God lead Overseer Hargrove back to her hometown in Walstonburg, North Carolina, there Holy Temple Church was born. That's when Overseer began to travel back and forth from North Carolina and Virginia, preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1970,Overseer Hargrove was lead by the spirit of God and brought the churches into the body of The Solemn Assembly House of Prayer Disciples Inc., where Bishop Columbus Arrington is the presiding Bishop. About a year later she became Overseer of the Solemn Assembly work. In 1975, God lead her to a town called Greenville, North Carolina, where Joy Temple Church was born. "Can you imagine a woman pastoring three churches in three different locations and also being a General Overseer", who did it? GOD DID IT! In April 1981, her husband had a heart attack and went home to Glory. Over the years she continued to preach to thousands of souls and minister at hundreds of churches, running revivals in and out of states, non-stop, continually year after year after year. In 1994, God called home her oldest sister, Mother Lucy Mae Cates, whom was a great blessing to her ministry. Five years later, on June 24, 1999, God called her baby daughter, Minister Cora Ann Hargrove, home to glory, she was following in her mother's footsteps, one whom was very willing to carry the torch of the Hargrove family ministry. Through the years, Overseer Hargrove endured sickness and even a stroke. Through it all, she would say "I BELIEVE GOD." God is my healer! So without seeking medical attention from a doctor, she continued to run revivals week after week and travel back and forth from Virginia to North Carolina, preaching every Sunday. She would sing this song, "To be like Jesus....Oh how I want to be like Him.....so meek and lowly...so humble and holy.... oh how I want to be like Him." Her motto is "I BELIEVE GOD". Words from Overseer;
"He have worked for me for over 50 years and He will do the same for you!......" Her legacy goes on....on....and on....
On June 17, 2008, at the age of 78, God saw fit to take Overseer Mable R. Hargrove from her earthly body to a place in the heavens for rest until that great judgement day. In 2009, Elder Carolyn N. Hargrove was installed as Pastor of Zion of Joy Church of Deliverance. Along with her husband, Elder Kenny L. Hargrove, Sr., they both are continuing the legacy that was passed down to them. Holiness is the only way!
