The Newport Beach Stake again hosted the Newport-Mesa-Irvine Interfaith Council National Day of Prayer breakfast on Thursday.  The keynote speaker was NFL Hall of Fame member and former BYU Quarterback Steve Young.  Sheila Thorkelson of the Eastbluff Ward also paid a moving tribute to her late husband Tom, who for decades was a key leader in the Interfaith community.  The over 250 people present included the mayors of Irvine and Costa Mesa, police chiefs from Newport Beach and Irvine, and many leaders of other faiths.  It was a wonderful morning of fellowship with our neighbors and friends of many religions.

“This Do In Remembrance of Me”
This week, we studied the powerful and miraculous way that the Lord delivered the children of Israel—water turned to blood, frogs, boils, hail and fire from the sky, and “a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more” (Exodus 11:6). To help the children of Israel remember what He had done for them, the Lord instituted the feast of the Passover. Jesus Christ gave us a new way to always remember Him when He instituted the ordinance of the sacrament.

Today, our students made a plan for specific things they could do to remember the Savior as they participate in the sacrament.
