Dear Hope4theamericas Friends:

Please forgive me for not posting anything in a very long time. Not being able to travel to Peru for the last two years (since the end of July 2019) I have not had anything to post.

I commit to being more diligent to posting even if it is only updates on the conditions in Peru.

At this moment the situation is not going very well on several fronts.

Health-wise...the country is a MESS! Protocols are not being followed and therefore the pandemic rages.

As a result of the pandemic...Economically...the country is in dire straits and finally....

Governmentally...a new president and leadership has been installed but his socialism leanings coupled with his party's attempt to place their folks in positions of leadership in the different ministries (Health, Transportation, etc.) has the duly elected legislators from other parties "up in arms"...and hopefully, that will only result in hyperbole and not actuality.

Please continue pray for Peru!
Please pray that the situation improves so that the Gospel can continue to shared "to the uttermost" parts.

Thanks!

Just how different are we from the indigenous peoples of the Andes or jungle populations of the Amazon Basin? Here is a self test to see!

Have I ever or recently had these words come from my mouth or thoughts from my head:
A. Good Luck! (as a friend leaves for a trip or special event)
B. God bless you! (after someone sneezes)
C. Oh, there's a black cat!! I need to cross the road!
D. Now, where is my favorite team shirt? If I don't find it we are surely to lose!!

For those of non-western Biblical worldviews their list might look like this:

A. Pouring a little of a drink out on the ground before taking the first drink.
B. I sure hope the pastor can come to bless our (two bull) weather vane on top of our new house (or edition)!
C. Sacrificing an animal and anointing each corner of a recently planting garden or field with its blood.
D. Rapidly saying as many mini-prayers while passing by a church on your way to work, etc.

While these two lists may not seem that similar...in the world of the metaphysical there is practically no difference. Neither are based on biblical truth. Now, where is that verse on carrying the foot of a deceased rabbit? Anyone know? Hmmmmm!

If learning how to counter these sorts of thoughts and practices seems like a good thing let me invite you to prayerfully consider joining us on May 30th for a special Zoom training event. The similarities requires we be prepared to minister wherever we might be...here in the good 'ol U S o A or overseas!!

Here are the topics we are going to be focusing on:

Spiritual Warfare & Prayer as a Strategic Weapon
Bridges & Barriers (between differing worldviews)
Animistic Worldview
Ethnocentristic Thinking
Missions & Ministry (is there a difference?)
Worldview & Orality (how to give non-readers an oral Bible)
Planting Indigenous Nondependent Reproducible Churches
Vision-casting and how to get where we need to be going

We will begin at 9 Central time and you can request to enter at that time or any time during the day until 2 p.m.. Have something to eat and drink handy because we are working through lunch. Please send me your e-mail address so we will make sure to include you!!

MISSIONS FORUM...this Friday night...9 Eastern/8 Central. Send me a PM with your Skype address and I will include you in the discussion of "worldview" and "orality" and their relationships.

Our theme verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17 which says "Therefore, if anyone is 'in Christ', he is a 'new creature'; the 'old things' passed away; behold, 'new things' have come." For the purpose of our discussion let's re-read this passage: "Therefore, when someone has *accepted 'Christ's story' , he has a 'new story'; the 'old story' has passed away; behold 'new stories' have come." *fully received the truth of His death, burial and resurrection...repented of their sin and accepted Jesus' payment on the Cross in their place.

From some of the very first believers in NW Yauyos (Lolo and Laura) to the newest (Rolly and Elizabeth) let's covenant to PRAY that many more "stories" will be written on the hearts of new believers in the four villages. 2 Cor. 3:2

Join us Friday night to see how "new stories" are waiting to be told and written!

Dear Friends of The Great Commission,

It is likely that one of the common themes for sermons on Easter was "cancelled"....sin, death, eternal penalty, hell...CANCELLED...for those who are "in Christ"...for everyone who has received the free gift of salvation paid for by the blood of Christ on the Cross!! What a great gift for all!

Not only was this word oft repeated from virtual pulpits throughout the nation but as well the word "cancelled" has been attached to sports events, seasons, spring practices, concerts, semesters/schools as well as businesses and millions of jobs. There is no one in the U.S. and even most of the world (185 out of 195 countries) that has not been been touched by it.

We all know why and all know that it is going to take EVERYONE to see those cancellations turned around. We continue to pray that this will happen soon!

In the midst of all that is going on we continue to also pray that we do not lose sight of the greater disease that plagues a myriad more and that is sin. As every news channel, newspaper and story is seemingly lazer-focused on nothing else but the physical malady we must allow ourselves to be distracted so much that we do nothing...pray...connect with those on the field to encourage them to do all they are physically able to accomplish in impacting those among whom they are called to serve. That is the least we can do!

Along with that, we, who have continued to prepare, to keep our suitcases packed and our eyes on the target of NW Yauyos, must also stay focused.....to do our very best to stay well physically..to remain spiritually fed by and in tune with the Lord..to pray that the frontiers open up..the U.S.A.'s and Peru's..to hope that when all of this happens the villagers of Quinches, Huañec, San Joaquin and Cochas will receive us with open arms and hearts

While we are praying, let us not fail to remember the people of Peru in their own struggle with the virus.

Please share this. Thanks!

Blessings to the Ends of the Earth (NW Yauyos is on the way)!!!

Week 5

"Now FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things not SEEN." Hebrews 11:1

"For we walk by FAITH, not by SIGHT." 2 Corinthians 5:7

"Though you have not SEEN Him, you LOVE Him; and even though you do not SEE Him now, you BELIEVE in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the result of your FAITH, the salvation of your souls."
1 Peter 1:8-9

"For everyone BORN of God OVERCOMES the world. This is the VICTORY that has OVERCOME the world, even our faith."
1 John 5:4

Week 4 of Prayer for NW Yauyos:
This has been a week of firsts. Cancelled trips...changed plans..due, not to missed flights or sickness or family issues but due to a worldwide outbreak of disease that has caused countries to close their borders to the outside world...hopefully we have faced this with confidence unwavered!!!

As this global virus continues to interrupt "life as we know it" and want it to be we must NEVER wonder if God is still on His Throne! With Job...we must say..."If He slay me I will praise Him…with Esther..."If I perish, I perish"...with Jesus…"O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

None of us are happy or content with the way things are going! A lot of sports enthusiasts were hoping for "one more run" during March Madness...while others lived for "one more thrill" experiencing the "Amen Corner" at the Masters... colleges & universities will say "goodbye" to their graduates digitally and hope they come back months later to "walk"... those who live for Fall football to "finally arrive" live in dread of what "might be" with the cancelling of Spring practices/Spring games…the annual anticipation of the arrival of "pitchers and catchers" is likely to bear fruit in seeing "opening day" come and go without happening...and working parents are struggling with life in general added to their children being out of school for the unforeseeable future!

Rod Serling must be laughing at us all as he ruminates in his grave over the happenings of today that not even his unusual mind could conjure up!

Is weird now the new normal!

No, because...this is only temporary! We, yes, US, who follow the Great I Am..know that HE is still in charge and He was not surprised by any of this...and that He knows when things will get better with a return to a more realistic state of existence outside the confining walls of our homes! As we look back on the fun new activity called "social distancing"..He has a plan for us all!

He also loves not only US but also everyone in every country who has yet to hear the Gospel of His saving grace! He knew that our hope of being able to serve Him on a mission that was cancelled would one day breathe new life and give us the joy of being "on mission" once again among the unreached peoples He has called us to impact. He is never LATE and neither are we! Just delayed! Plans that were "dashed" are soon to be!!

As we anticipate the "re-opening" of airports and frontiers in countries where we long to serve know that He is already there...also, we should not be surprised to discover that He has already begun the task and is waiting for us to join Him! Wow, the privilege of it all! What a wonderful God we serve!!!

Let us pray that we enter into this new season with anticipation of seeing God touch lives and impacting entire families and villages where we serve!!!

This is a share from Marty Childers...

Have you heard about the Quechua custom called “Ayni”...working together in community?
This illustration reminds me of that! Working as a team even if you can’t see your teammates!!

“There’s a story about a city guy who is driving in the country and has a deer run directly in front of his car. To avoid crashing into the deer, he swerves and gets stuck in a ditch. He tries to get out but cannot get the car to move at all. About this time an old farmer comes by with a horse. The farmer asks the city man if he and his horse “Buddy” can be of assistance. The man says of course that would be great.

So, the farmer hooks up a rope to the car, gets his horse Buddy out in front, and then he says, “Pull Nelly, pull!” The city guy says to himself, I thought his name was Buddy. So, nothing happens...

Then the farmer calls out, “Pull Roscoe, pull!” But Buddy just stands still, and the driver of the car is thinking “Is this guy all there?”
Then for a third time the farmer yells, “Pull Lightening, pull!” Three times and nothing happened.

Finally, on the fourth time the farmer calls out, “Pull Buddy pull!” And boom... the car comes right out of the ditch. The driver thanks the farmer then says, “I’m curious why you called three other names before you called the horse’s name. Why would you do that?”
The farmer explains well you see, Buddy’s blind and if he thinks he’s pulling all by himself he won’t do anything. But if there’s a team around him. He’ll pull like there’s no tomorrow.”

This week's specific prayer requests for Summer Mission Team 2020/SMT2020 are:
1. Spiritual preparation for the each individual.
2. That the Lord will meet their financial need for the summer.
3. The future as some normally work during the summer to be able to attend college in the Fall. Pray for discernment!
4. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest for His workers & His Harvest.

Attn. Prayer Warriors:
Here is an update. I have made it safely to Texas after a tremendous time on the campus of Louisiana College. The Lord blessed in ways that I can only say..."blew my socks off"!
Thanks to President Rick Brewer, Dr. Phillip Caples, BCM Director Thomas Worsham, Jeff Young (and his Guinn Hall media staff) and the wonderful security staff (Nicholas Pitri, Brandon Murphy and Richard Mitchell along with their Chief Clifford Gatlin) for their wonderful assistance and hospitality. This experience was amazingly fruitful due to their invaluable help.
I also want to say "thank you" to all of the students who came by to talk and find out more about the summer long missions opportunity we were there to promote and recruit for. As a result of my time on campus several very meaningful conversations and interviews took place and we are continuing to have contact that, we pray, will see "the Lord's Team" come together.
As a result of this visit there are a couple of students who have indicated their desire to serve with us with a few others who are seriously praying for direction about the decision they should make. Please pray with them as they continue to pray and investigate! Thanks!
