The Potter's Hands. We often see this very familiar image in Scripture of the potter's hands. It is frequently used to describe this relationship that we have between God as the potter and the believer, of course, as the clay. We're being shaped and molded into the image of God.

In Isaiah 64 and verse 8, The Bible says, But now, O Lord, you are our Father, we are the clay, and you our potter, and all we are the work of your hand.

QUESTION: "In what area of your life are you resisting the potter's hands? Ask God to soften whatever has grown rigid in you."

The Lord is my shepherd

I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leads me beside quiet waters.

He restores my soul.

He guides me along the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death

I will fear no evil,

For you are with me.

Your rod and your staff they comfort me.

You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies.

You annoint my head with oil;

My cup overflows, surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Even as Jeremiah delivered devastating words of judgment to Judah, the horizon of God's story was not destruction -- it was restoration.

God had a future and a hope in mind even while the refiner's fire burned. The God who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it. You are not an abandoned project. You are not a forgotten promise.

Every chapter of difficulty you have walked through has been held in the hands of a God who has never once stopped being faithful.

You have too much history with him to believe that this is the chapter where he stops. His track record is perfect. His love for you is not seasonal. Trust him with what comes next.

God told Jeremiah that even in captivity, surrounded by enemies, he would be provided for.

God would prepare a table for him in the very presence of those who wished him harm. This is the same promise David celebrated in the 23rd Psalm. The table God sets is not hidden away in a safe place -- it is right in the middle of the conflict.

It is provision in the storm, peace in the chaos, sustenance in the siege. God does not always remove you from the difficult place. Sometimes he simply sits you down in the middle of it, sets a meal before you, and says, eat. I am here.
