The Newfield Community Church respectfully invites you to “Indigenous Peoples Sunday” 10 am gathering on the 6th Sunday of Creation time. On this Sunday we are reminded that all creation is sacred and the Divine Mystery has always cared about the stories and lived experiences of Indigenous people. Here in the Grand State of Maine our 5 of our 16 counties native names ( Aroostook, Kennebec, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Sagadahoc) a reminder of the lives and nations that were extinguished. Our music will include music (by permission) from the Anishnaabe and Dakota Nations-as well as two new compositions from the new global hymnbook “Then Let Us Sing”, with a message based on the lectionary readings of the day. We have been described as a Purple congregation. Meaning a diverse gathering of people who are theologically and politically conservative, progressive, and centrist who come to worship the Creator, deepen their spirituality, and work together to create a more peaceful, just, compassionate world. We are a church in the Congregational tradition and member of the NACCC. Come and See!

The Newfield Community Church wishes our Jewish neighbors and friends of our community and across the world heartfelt solidarity during this solemn observance of Yom Kippur. We remember with you that this is a day of deep spiritual significance—a time of repentance, reflection, and atonement. We honor the richness of the Jewish tradition and its spiritual practices that call for self-examination and reconciliation, and we stand with you as you seek forgiveness before God. In the face of rising antisemitism and violence, we unequivocally condemn all acts of hatred and aggression against the Jewish people. As you fast and pray, our community will be praying with you for peace—for the peace of Jerusalem, for the safety and well-being of the Jewish community, and for a world renewed by God's justice and mercy. May you be sealed in the Book of Life for a good year, and may the fast conclude with a future of healing and hope.
