Old South Presbyterian Church

Old South Presbyterian Church We gather for worship each Sunday morning at 10:00am. We give the best Children's Sermon in town! All people and questions are welcome! Come grow with us!

Steeped in history and still making it, we're a historic church experiencing a fresh awakening to the power of the gospel in our day. Sunday morning visitors will experience a friendly welcome, warm acceptance, and a traditional service with a contemporary appeal. We love having children of all ages in worship with us and we pay special attention to our youngest worshippers, offering them a bag fu

ll of things to do and a delightful Children's Sermon. We offer people of all ages a variety of ways to help them grow in their faith, and numerous opportunities to serve our neighbors. Our regularly scheduled "Curiosity Hour" is for people who are interested in learning more about Christianity through the Presbyterian lens. Pastor Laurel hosts Curiosity Hour every third Sunday at 11:30 in the Pastor's Study. Our New Members Cohort is a small group fellowship that meets once a week over a meal for four weeks to explore membership in our congregation. We host a New Member Cohort once each quarter. Our next Cohort will meet in June - the group will decide what day of the week and which meal works best for them, but this has traditionally happened during the Wednesday supper hour.

City of Newburyport Employee Spotlight
Cliff Pollard, Custodian I, Newburyport Department of Public Services, Facilities Division
Cliff Pollard, a lifelong Newburyporter, was hired as a Custodian by Facilities Manager Michael Bartlett in August 2022. Nearly four years later, Cliff remains an essential, valued, and beloved member of the department.
As a Custodian I, Cliff provides care, management, and operational support for several important City facilities, including City Hall, the Newburyport Public Library, the Emma Andrews Library, the Senior/Community Center (SCC), the Harbormaster’s Office, and the City parking garage. Later in 2026, Cliff and his colleagues will also assume management responsibilities for the new Newburyport Recreation & Youth Services building.
Cliff takes particular pride in the landscaping at the SCC at 331 High Street. He is instrumental in mowing, weeding, edging, planting, and maintaining the aesthetically pleasing grounds that surround the building. As Executive Director of the SCC, Sara Landry, shared, “Over the past two years, Cliff has diligently tended the grounds of the Senior/Community Center. I have seen a tremendous improvement in the appearance and quality of the grounds under Cliff’s care. In addition to his landscaping work, Cliff is always willing to pitch in and assist COA staff with program set-up and take-down, rarely saying no to any request. Cliff is a true team player, and the City is very lucky to have such a committed and hardworking employee!”
Outside of work, Cliff lives in Newburyport. He enjoys live music, spending time with friends and family, golfing, and exploring area flea markets for rare finds.
Thank you, Cliff, for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to the Newburyport community. As Sara said, the City is very lucky to have you!
