Eid Mubarak. Yesterday marked the first day of Eid al-Fitr after 30 days of fasting from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan. It marks the completion of a month of discipline, gratitude, and spiritual growth, and serves as a reminder to carry these values throughout the year. Wishing you peace, blessings, and goodness in the days ahead.

During the month of Ramadan, after a long day of work and fasting, we gather at the mosque at night to pray.

We stand side by side, reminding ourselves that before God we are all equal. It’s a moment to pause, leave the busyness of the day behind, and remember why we are here.

In this clip, the verses being recited speak about honoring and treating our parents with kindness. In these verses, God mentions this right after commanding us to worship Him, showing how deeply important respect and gratitude toward our parents truly are.

We wanted to share this moment and the reminder it brings.

Yesterday, while fasting in Ramadan, our youth volunteered at the Boonville Soup Kitchen to serve dinner to members of our community who are less fortunate. In Islam, fasting is meant to refine the heart and strengthen one’s sense of responsibility toward others. It is a conscious act of worship that builds self-discipline, gratitude, and compassion, not just time away from food and drink.

The Qur’an describes the faithful as those who “give food—despite their desire for it—to the poor, the orphan, and the captive.” (76:8)

We are proud of our youth for living these values through service and care for their neighbors.

One of the main beauties of the Qur’an is its language.

In a recent discussion, we reflected on how carefully its words are chosen — where even similar terms carry different shades of meaning and are used in specific places. For Muslims, this precision is part of what gives the Qur’an its depth.

Just a thoughtful moment we wanted to share.

Happy Ramadan to everyone . Today is the first day of Ramadan, it is the holiest month in Islam and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community.

From dawn to sunset, Muslims fast — abstaining from food and drink — as a way to grow spiritually, practice self-discipline, and cultivate compassion for those who experience hunger daily. The fast is broken at sunset with a meal called iftar, often shared with family, friends, and neighbors

Ramadan also commemorates the month in which Muslims believe the Qur’an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). As a result, Muslims increase their prayers, charity, and acts of kindness throughout the month.

Not everyone is required to fast; exemptions are made for children, the elderly, the ill, pregnant or nursing women, and travelers.

The month concludes with a joyful celebration called Eid al-Fitr, marking the completion of the fast.

In essence, Ramadan is a month centered on faith, self-improvement, generosity, and building stronger bonds within both the Muslim community and the broader society.
We wish all a blessed Ramadan🌙☪️

Tonight we gathered to honor those who dedicate their lives to teaching, guiding, and shaping minds.

Teaching is more than sharing information. It is about shaping character, opening hearts, and helping others grow beyond the classroom.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that whoever takes a path to seek knowledge, God makes a path to Paradise easy, and that those who carry knowledge inherit from the Prophets—not wealth or status, but guidance and light.

Thank you to our teachers for your dedication, patience, and lasting impact.
If you recognize a teacher in these photos, feel free to tag them and share your appreciation.

Today on Christmas Day our youth volunteered to serve breakfast and lunch at the shelter. This is a tradition we continue every year to remember those who are less fortunate and those who may not have family around them.

We wanted everyone to feel a sense of family, care, and dignity. In Islam, serving people and standing by those in need is part of who we are.

Allah says, “And they give food, out of love for Him, to the poor, the orphan, and the captive.” (Qur’an 76:8)

May Allah accept this effort and place mercy in every heart. 🤍

From the Muslim point of view, the killing of innocent people anywhere in the world is unequivocally condemned. Islam upholds the sanctity of human life as a fundamental principle, regardless of a person’s religion, ethnicity, or nationality. Violence, injustice, and the targeting of innocent civilians stand in direct opposition to Islamic teachings.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized the sacredness of life and warned against unjust killing in the strongest terms. One of the most well-known Islamic teachings states that the value of a single human life is immeasurable. This meaning is rooted in the Qur’anic principle:

“Whoever kills a soul —it is as if he had slain all of humanity; and whoever saves one—it is as if he had saved all of humanity.”
(Qur’an 5:32)

Last week, the Islamic Society of Evansville joined the Thanksgiving Service hosted by the Mayor’s Interfaith Council at First Presbyterian Church.

It was a warm and thoughtful gathering where friends and neighbors from different faiths came together to reflect on gratitude and the blessings God has given us.

The message shared was a reminder to appreciate His gifts, to thank Him in every state, and to be grateful for moments like this that bring our community together.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“Give glad news to those who walk to the mosques in the darkness — for the dawn (Fajr) and night (‘Isha) prayers — that they will have complete light on the Day of Judgment.”
