Isaiah 35:8
“A highway shall be there, and a road, And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.”

A highway appears: the Way of Holiness. The highway isn’t for everyone. Only the redeemed will walk there. To be redeemed inherently means having been in need of rescue and restoration. Holiness is not about perfection, rule-following, or striving. It is about welcoming the transforming grace of God. It’s His redemption that qualifies the redeemed to walk this path.

“God himself became a human being and died a human death. God became a human to make humans divine; the immortal became mortal to raise mortals to immortality. “

“He became what we are that we might become what he is.”
— Athanasius 4th Century.

“We are all prodigal sons until we learn how to pray – far from our true home, separated from our true center, alienated from our true self. Even if we live and move in the general vicinity of God, until we learn to pray we are like tourists or strangers walking about on our Father’s premises without knowing whose place it really is, without realizing the true status He has conferred upon us: that of the sons and daughters of the living Lord of creation.”
—Kenneth O. Eaton

Father, help us today to realize and become aware of the status You have conferred upon us as sons and daughters. We are Your begotten, beloved and adopted children in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” ( 2 Corinthians 8:9)

God became so intimately involved with humanity that He was incarnated as a baby, “. . . a baby who grew to be a man and lived like no one ever lived and died like no one ever died. All so that we could see love with skin on it.” (Richard Foster)

Lewis B. Smedes - The Art of Forgiving: When You Need To Forgive And Don't Know How

"Forgiving does not usually happen at once. It is a process, sometimes a long one, especially when it comes to wounds gouged deep. And we must expect some lapses...some people seem to manage to finish off forgiving in one swoop of the heart. But when they do, you can bet they are forgiving flesh wounds. Deeper cuts take more time and can use a second coat."

“There may be deep waters through which you must wade; there may be fires through which the ore of your character must pass. But in the midst of them God promises to be your partner, companion, and faithful friend.” (David Roper)

“Prayer is power, and it changes things. It doesn’t matter how difficult your particular situation may seem. God is your very present help in this time of trouble! You don’t have to stand back helplessly and hold your breath . . . You can make a difference through prayer.” (Eastman Curtis)

“While we may never understand how Jesus intercedes for us, we can believe it and count on it. When we do that, the intercession of Jesus will become a great comfort to us. It will teach us to rest more and more in the love of this unseen, but ever-present, Friend. It will anchor our soul. In more practical terms, Jesus’ intercession means we do not hold the ropes of faith alone. When we cannot walk in faith any longer, Jesus’ prayers carry us through.”

Brenda Poinsett, When Jesus Prayed. Nashville: Broadman Press, 1981, p. 78.

Please don’t believe the lie that you are unacceptable to God. One of the greatest truths Jesus came to teach us is, “God loves you anyway.” No matter what your feelings say. No matter what others say. No matter whether you deserve it or not, God loves you anyway. That’s the whole reason God became flesh in the form of Jesus Christ. “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
