Observing a Physical Kingdom
As you are all aware, here in America, there has been a lot of unrest about the election of the next president. There are many that like the current president and some love him to the point it is near idolatrous. Others dislike him and others hate him as if he were an abomination. This will be the same for the next president and any others to come. There will be fear of what the next president will endorse, enforce, condone, uproot, and plant as many of his and the vice president’s policies and changes to policies, could lead to an America they do not like or want to live in.
In the case of the spiritual and weightier picture, a new authority means possible change for or against God, God-fearing people, and change for or against those things that God abhors. The Christian must understand something though. Jesus said himself, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews.” (John 18:36) Christ is not concerned about the president elects like you might be, and if you are ever concerned, you could possibly be missing some details from the truth God has provided. Daniel 2:21 says, “And he changeth the times and the seasons; he removeth kings, and setteth up kings; he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that have understanding;” With this fact, what are we truly worried for?
The Christian knows much of what God hates and the reason is because it falls under the veil of sin. While oppression, deceit, hatred, sedition, and the corruption of the rich is hated by Him, He also hates deviation from His plan for marriage, the disdain for the gender roles He set in place for our convenience and His glory, the destruction of the family, abortion and more. Yet authorities that He allows to be or raises up often submit to these sins. Be mindful of Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Ninevah, and Rome. The many loved kings, hated kings, mad kings, murderous kings and so on…God oversees such matters and such matters are far from man just having his way, though he thinks it.
Christ’s kingdom is not of this earth, and so this earth is going to come to an end (Matthew 24:35-39). Apostasy will take this world into ruin only for it to end. There will likely be little good in it once the end does come. See Matthew 24:10, Galatians 1:8-9, 2 Peter 3;17, 1 Timothy 4:1-3, 2 Timothy 2:4-5. These details and inferences portrayed in the verses provided are the things you see, have seen, and will continue beyond you if the world still stands. This is our corruption, this corruption was why Christ, instead of setting up a kingdom here, has his kingdom far from this earth, and true improvement will never take place on this earth. That is why He didn’t have men fight for Him to an inevitable win and instead died for our souls’ salvation, that is why He takes the persecution of being ostracized, having His truth diluted, His name mocked, the creation He made ruined and by us no less. He takes all this because he has the upper hand on things. If this world goes on thousands of years more, He already has the victory over our corruption and sin and death and he doesn’t have to care more than he does about the things going on down here. What he has told us to do is prepare for the end. He also told us we are pilgrims here (Acts 14:22 & Hebrews 13:14)
Friends, if you are a Trump or Biden supporter, I can’t say I envy you. No matter the policies you stand for or whether you just thought someone was unfit. What happens on this earth will never matter enough for us to be continually upset, disrespect authority, pridefully parade our opinion and choices. Our King is in heaven where our kingdom is. Now that isn’t to say we shouldn’t be showing ourselves peculiar by teaching others and standing for things that are right, but there will never be a perfect candidate for leadership. There will never be anyone more qualified than another on the stage of the world, however, Christ is perfect and even before the first man, He is.
I invite you all to enter this mindset: You are a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9) observing the tabernacle of the Lord from Exodus 25-27 and 35-40. There is the outer court (the world), the Holy Place (where you the priest works), and then the Most Holy Place (where God is and our high priest Christ also works). You’ve no reason to worry much for what is outside when you are inside with the literal God of creation which no thing stands without. So carry on with your work, don’t fret over votes, people, their actions, or otherwise. Make the sacrifices, keep the alter fires lit, give thanks, pray daily, and abide in the work of one of your calling. Preach and teach, and remember the One Authority above all and keep your peace.
