Today at Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church, we were blessed to finally celebrate Black History after our services were previously postponed due to recent snowstorms. ❄️✊🏾

Following worship, we gathered for a powerful and meaningful presentation from our guest speaker titled “We Are Here.” The message reflected on the rich history of New Jersey and honored the legacy of our African ancestors whose strength, resilience, and contributions continue to shape our communities today.

It was a beautiful reminder that our history is not just something we remember—it is something we live, carry, and build upon every day.

Clinton Memorial African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Zion Church, located at 151 Broadway, Newark, is the oldest African American Congregation in New Jersey, having been founded in 1822.

Clinton Memorial is a state and national historic landmark. The church is also significant for religious, and social/humanitarian reasons as the home of the oldest incorporated black denomination in New Jersey.

Clinton Memorial located at 151 Broadway, Newark, is a two story irregular brownstone high victorian gothic influenced church. The church purchased the building in 1929.
