God’s promise isn’t simply to improve our old lives, it is to make us new.

Through Christ, God gives us a new heart, a new spirit, and a renewed hope. This work is deeply personal, but it was never meant to happen in isolation. The Holy Spirit transforms us as we surrender to His work and learn to live honestly in the new community He is creating.

Join us this Sunday as we look at ReNEWed Hope in God’s Promise.

As we at CWC enter September we also celebrate PreacHer month. The Bible does not limit women’s role in ministry, so neither should man. “The Wesleyan Church affirms its long-standing 'commitment' to full opportunity for women to be ordained to the ministry and 'to serve in any and all ministerial and leadership capacities'."

Prepared by the Task Force on Women in the Ministry appointed by the General Board of The Wesleyan Church; Revised 2019

Yesterday, we closed our What Is a Disciple? series by looking at what it means to be Committed to Mission. God has placed each of us in this generation with people to love, gifts to use, and the Gospel to share.

The challenge is to honestly ask ourselves: Am I still living on mission, or have I drifted from what God has called me to do?

Take some time this week to pray and seek Him: God, how are You calling me to get back on mission?

Stand with Nepal in Prayer

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1

We join our Wesleyan family in praying for Nepal following a devastating flash flood that swept through communities near central Nepal and the Tibet border Wednesday.

Lives have been lost and hundreds are missing as rescue efforts continue. Homes and critical infrastructure have been destroyed across affected areas.

Wesleyan churches in the Nuwakot and Dhading districts have asked for urgent prayer. We are still waiting to learn the full impact on our churches and communities.

Please pray for:
> Those stranded, missing, or grieving the loss of loved ones
> Those who have lost homes and livelihoods, and for rescue teams working in dangerous conditions
> Our pastors, leaders, and Wesleyan churches as they serve their communities

Pray that God would bring comfort, protection and provision, and that our Wesleyan family would be a source of Christ’s love and hope to those who are suffering.

Sunday was a powerful morning together as we continued our What Is a Disciple? series.

We were reminded that following Jesus is more than knowing about Him or even simply believing in Him. A relationship with Jesus should transform us. The closer we walk with Him, the more our lives should begin to look like Him.

And that leaves each of us with a question to carry into this week: Am I allowing my relationship with Jesus to actually change me?

If you were with us Sunday, don’t let the message stay in Sunday. Take some time this week to listen again, reflect on what God was speaking to you, and ask Him what He wants you to do with it.

And if you missed it, we really encourage you to take some time to listen. We believe this is a message worth hearing.

Yesterday we kicked off our new series, What Is a Disciple?, by talking about what it means to fully surrender our lives to Jesus.

Following Jesus isn’t just about what we believe or what we know. If Jesus is Lord, that means He has a say in all of our lives—our plans, priorities, relationships, decisions, and even the things we would rather hold onto.

It’s a good question to carry with us this week:

Is Jesus Lord of all of my life, or are there still areas I’m holding onto?

As a new school year is begining, let’s cover our schools in prayer. 🙏

Pray for students as they step into new classrooms, new routines, new friendships, and new challenges.

Pray for teachers and staff as they prepare to lead, encourage, teach, and care for the students entrusted to them each day.

Pray for families as they adjust to new schedules and support their children through another year of learning and growing.

And pray that in every classroom, hallway, lunchroom, bus, and home, God would be present—giving wisdom, protection, patience, courage, and peace.

Whether your school year has already begun or is just around the corner, let’s be a church that faithfully prays for our students, educators, staff, and families throughout the year. ❤️

What school, student, teacher, or staff member can you commit to praying for this year?

What does it really mean to be a disciple of Jesus?

Being a disciple is more than learning about Jesus or simply believing the right things. When we choose to follow Him, Jesus becomes Lord, He changes our lives—and then He uses our lives to change the world.

This Sunday, we’re beginning a new three-week series, What Is a Disciple?” as we look at what it means to truly follow Jesus with our whole lives.

We’ll begin with SURRENDER—because following Jesus means more than giving Him a part of our lives. It means surrendering ALL of our lives to Him and allowing Him to be Lord of it all.

📅 Beginning Sunday, August 16
⏰ 10:30 AM
📍 Community Wesleyan Church
161 Myrtle Ave., Newark

Whether you’ve followed Jesus for years, are new to faith, or are still figuring out what you believe, we’d love to have you join us.

What does it look like when Jesus truly becomes Lord of ALL of our lives? Come discover it with us this Sunday.
