Many of the old "sayings" our ancestors used are based on scripture. We know the sayings, but do we know the text they came from? Here's an example.
Ephesians 5:11-14 NIV
11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.
14 This is why it is said:

“Wake up, sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
Verse 13 is the scripture your grandma was referencing when she would tell you...
"What's done in the dark will come to light"
Verse 14 should inspire us to stay woke, because anyone who sleeps is dead, and we must be woke to have the light of Christ shine on us.
