Love the scent or hate it, incense is a valuable part of Catholic worship. So why do Catholics use it so often? Read here to find out:

Love the scent or hate it, incense is a valuable part of Catholic worship. So why do Catholics use it so often? We derive our use of incense from Scripture. Psalm 141:2 reads, “Let my prayer be incense before you; my uplifted hands an evening offering.” Also, in Revelation, John describes incens...

Today, we join the universal Church in celebrating the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, meditating on the great gift of the Eucharist that Jesus has left us. It is the food that truly nourishes us for our journey toward heaven.

The parish church of Sainte-Mère-Église in Normandy is now famous for what happened there on June 6, 1944: D-Day. Private John Steele of the 82nd Airborne parachuted into town, was injured by flak, and dangled from the pinnacle of the church. He faked being dead for two whole hours, until the Germans took him prisoner. Later, he was able to escape and rejoin his unit. Today, these events are commemorated by the "Parachute Memorial," which still dangles from the church steeple. It's a tribute to all the soldiers who fought to liberate Europe.

Speaking of donuts…
We’re starting a small hospitality team to help host post-Mass receptions at our English Masses—think coffee, donuts, and a warm welcome on occasional weekends throughout the year.

These simple gatherings help build community and warmly welcome both longtime parishioners and new visitors. Duties are light—set up, serve, and clean up. We are also looking for help donating and securing the necessary supplies and refreshments.

Through baptism, we are all "houses of the Lord" and, thus, able to gaze upon his beauty. No matter the physical location, we can always close our eyes and, through prayer, draw close to God.

A través del bautismo, todos somos "casas del Señor" y, por tanto, podemos contemplar su belleza. No importa dónde sea físicamente, siempre podemos cerrar los ojos y, a través de la oración, acercarnos a Dios.

The Wilmington leg of the Pilgrimage includes more than 7 events over the course of 24 hours on June 11th and 12th, traveling from Kent Island, MD, to Easton, MD, Georgetown, DE, to Ocean City, MD and ending at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Wilmington before handing off Jesus in the Eucharist to the Diocese of Camden. We invite all members of our Diocesan community to join us along the route and celebrate our Eucharistic faith as Jesus and the Perpetual Pilgrims pass through our Diocese. Registration for Diocesan events is encouraged but not required and will help parish and diocesan staff make adequate plans. Additional information is available at cdow.org/cabriniroute.

In the Old Testament, God commands that the Israelites harvest a "first fruit" every year and offer it to him. This means that the first food coming forth from the earth went to the Lord, not to the people. This feast was designed to establish a greater trust in God - if you give over the first fruit to him, you need to trust that the rest of the harvest will be plentiful.

It's a great day to go biking! Did you know that Pius X was the first pope to bless a bicycle? Our Holy Angels campus is neighbors to a part of the White Clay Creek State Park. Check out some of their great trails at the Middle Run Valley Natural Area.https://www.destateparks.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/maps_White_Clay_Creek.pdf

Our parish is looking for volunteers to help lead small faith groups to build fellowship, faith, and community within our parish. A bike 'n' hike group might be one idea, along with many other possibilities. If you are interested in helping lead a group, please contact the parish office at 302-731-2219 or [email protected].
