This week we are starting a new series on how we Presbyterians (PCUSA) find our way in the LGBTQIA+ conversation. As always, we center in on the Bible and its witness to the will and heart of God. But we also see that Word of God as a very living thing interacting with the creation God has made.


This first week I am going to walk us through how we Presbyterians (the PCUSA type anyway) find our footing in dealing with the will of God. My hope is that we will find firm, solidly biblical ground to be able to celebrate all that God is doing among us in these very special days. The Story of Amit and the Kingdom of God

This Sunday, Karl, Bimi, and David will lead us into a reflection on what it means to live as the children of Abraham in the "already-ness" of the Kingdom of God.


Real life in community is often messy, fragile, and demanding. A while back, some of you experienced this firsthand when our friend Amit had a hard Sunday morning and became hostile. In that tense moment, with safety at stake, our only available option was to call 911 so the police could intervene and take Amit into custody.


Moments like that leave questions: How do we balance genuine safety with deep, enduring compassion? What does it mean to be the church of Jesus Christ not just within quiet sanctuary walls, but in the midst of human vulnerability, mental distress, and broken systems?


Rather than turning away from difficult memories, Karl, Bimi, and David will each bring a distinct biblical text into conversation with our lived experience. Together, they will help us wrestle with how scripture speaks to our calling today:

Embodying the Kingdom now: Exploring what Abrahamic hospitality and God's present reign look like when tested by the real-world.

Reimagining safety and care: Asking hard questions about the kind of community and neighborhood we need to help build—spaces where people like Amit find real support before crises happen.

Living as a faithful presence: Discerning how our church can be a sanctuary of both accountability and kindness for everyone who walks through our doors.

Join us this Sunday at 9:30am, in person or online, as we listen, learn, and imagine together what kind of world we can help create—one that is safer, more compassionate, and more whole for Amit, for our neighborhood, and for all of us.
