The House of Bishops elected and House of Deputies affirmed the Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe as the next Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church!

The House of Bishops will be electing the next Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, scheduled to begin tomorrow morning, June 26 at 10:30 AM ET. Let us pray for all those listening for God's will, and for those who have stepped out in faith as candidates:

We also want to lift up a special prayer for Anamchara Fellowship's Bishop Visitor, the Rt. Rev. Diane Jardine Bruce, Secretary of the House of Bishops, who has worked tirelessly alongside her colleagues to prepare for this election.

The members of Anamchara Fellowship would deeply appreciate your prayers as many of us come together in Detroit tomorrow for our annual Gathering, which is a week of prayer, discernment, formation, fun, and work. We have a number of members attending virtually, and would appreciate your prayers for them as well, as we all strive to be in community across the country and the world.

Did you know that members of Anamchara Fellowship profess vows, much like traditional monastic communities? Professed members take vows of Simplicity, Fidelity, and Obedience. Novices (who just received the Habit) take them on as promised during their noviciate, a period of formation and discernment.

Here's a bit more about how we live our vow of Obedience:

- Following the Gospel imperatives of love and forgiveness.
- Working within the context of the Church to which the member belongs, seeing the leadership and Councils of the Church as guides.
- Listening for the voice of God in those placed in authority over us.

- Living with gentleness of manner towards everyone.
- Renouncing all physical and verbal control over others.
- Constancy toward the one with whom God has blessed us as partner or as Anamchara.
- Consciously striving after peace and mercy for all.
