A Torrent of Grace: Turning our wounds into Sacred Gifts through Jesus with Mark Joseph Williams.

Mark Joseph Williams, who serves the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark, as Special Advisor to Cardinal Joseph Tobin is a licensed clinical social worker and author of the book, "A Torrent of Grace". When Mr. Williams was a young teen, he was victimized by clergy sexual abuse. The trauma and ensuing feelings of shame took years to come to grips with, and Mark's journey of faith and healing through the Catholic church is one of grace and accompaniment. He now works with and advocates for people who suffer from mental health issues stemming from abuse and trauma, and has dedicated his life to bringing witness to the redeeming grace of accompaniment and vulnerability he has found in Jesus.
Jen speaks with Mark and Gina Criscuolo, LCSW, and coordinator for the Office of Accompaniment at the Deparment of Protection of the Faithful for the Archdiocese of Newark.

Jen sits down with Robert Ramos, husband, dad, Knight of Columbus, and lay minister leading his family in faith, and founder of Mission Rosary. Born out of the desire to keep serving in faith, despite the darkness of the pandemic, Robert responded to a desire to keep showing up in faith for his family and uses his story and his desire to share the Good news with others as a means for healing. His latest campaign is called "Your Life Matters", and is changing lives in his community.

Robert speaks about how his faith has helped him overcome childhood traumas, and deal with the stresses as a military veteran, dad and husband doing his best. We talk through a lot of the ways God shows up in his life, and the ways he leads his family in prayer and faith.

God's timing is perfect. We are reading Pope Francis's section on Trinitarian perspectives of the Sacred Heart, just as the biweekly message from our Cardinal speaks about the Holy Trinity. So, we went back to the recording studio and updated the session to include our local Shepherd's words alongside Pope Francis, Pope St. John Paul II, and Pope Leo XIV.

June is the Month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. But what does some dusty old devotion have to do with my life?

Dilexit Nos in a Year is walking through the spirituality of the Sacred Heart that Pope Francis just completed in October.
He offers you a love letter from God in contemporary language, grounded in both scriptural and Catholic traditional foundations. Why do Catholics believe what they believe about love, or anything really? Love. It is all about an intimate relationship with God, which informs all other relationships in our lives. Get in on that foundational understanding of what love truly is.

Yesterday, We started reading Chapter 3 of Dilexit Nos in a Year. Providentially, Pope Francis leans into the writings of Pope Leo XIII, in his Papal Bull Annum Sacram, in 1899 Leo XIII consecrated the world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
,
We look at this writing and others in discerning the importance of the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus above other devotions as it is the inseparable devotion to the human and divine person of Jesus Christ, and the unbounded love of Christ for us.
We finish by praying the prayer of consecration of Leo XIII and calling upon the Lord to bless in this moment our new Pope Leo XIV, the church and the whole world.

Pope Francis continues Chapter 2 of Dilexit Nos with paragraphs 39-42, highlighting Jesus' modeling of the importance of seeing, beholding, and being present to those we seek to heal and call. The Gospel accounts emphasize the importance of beholding each unique person as a further expression of love, tenderness, and closeness that we are to emulate in our service to others.
