- University & Career: attended Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland & currently working with kids as a Speech-Language Pathologist!

MEET 2026 ACYOA CENTRAL COUNCIL‼️

Next up: our Communications Chair, Talin Propes!

“I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma, and while there were no Armenian churches, restaurants, or community, my mom prioritized visiting the Dallas church, learning the Armenian language, and understanding our heritage from an early age. Because of this, I eventually found my way to St. Vartan Camp, where over the years I was a camper, CIT, and staff member. My years at SVC showed me what it was like to be part of an Armenian community, and I’ve actively sought out as many opportunities to be involved and give back since. I’m so excited for the year ahead!”

As Communications, Talin makes sure our story reaches every parish and every member — sharing what ACYOA is all about.

A little bit about Talin—

- Parish: St. Sarkis Armenian Church (Carrollton, TX)
- Lives in: Dallas, Texas, but from Edmond, Oklahoma
- University & Career: attended the University of Oklahoma & currently working as a Senior Social Media Specialist for CityVet & Arista Advanced Pet Care
- Hobbies: loves watching movies/tv, traveling, reading, and hanging out with friends

“I've been actively involved in my home parish's ACYOA seniors chapter — including helping re-establish it — and was thrilled to see them have a great turnout at Sports Weekend this May. I've also been involved with St. Vartan Camp for the past 10+ years and have had the incredible experience of attending ASP.”

As Treasurer, Peter keeps our finances on track so our programs and events can thrive!

“I'm back for my second year, now as Secretary! I previously served as Ministries and Outreach Coordinator, and I am now excited to pursue a new role within Central Council. After helping prepare and host the 2026 ACYOA Sports Weekend, I want to use what I learned and keep the momentum going into this year towards ACYOA! I am grateful to serve again and can’t wait to meet more of you in the future!”

Central Council's first weekend together was one for the books!

We traveled to Chicago to be hosted by St. Gregory the Illuminator Church under the leadership of Fr. Andreas.

Saturday started with a productive meeting, followed by final farewells and heartfelt thank-yous to Garen, Alisha, Mara, and Sarah from the outgoing Central Council for their years of dedication and service. We also celebrated Jenni's birthday before heading out to experience the city — stopping by Taste of Chicago, grabbing dinner, and taking in the sights and sounds of downtown Chicago.

Sunday morning, we had a wonderful celebration for the Feast of the Holy Transfiguration of Christ Jesus, worshipping together at St. Gregory, with Georgette and Armine singing in the choir and Garen serving on the altar. Afterward, we were welcomed with wonderful fellowship from the St. Gregory community and joined in their Vartavar celebrations hosted by their ACYOA chapter. đź’¦

Thank you to the entire parish for their hospitality and for making our first meeting one to remember. The new Central Council is ready to serve this year!
