Vaayus – Five Vital Airs
There are five vital airs in the body and each of them is responsible for various physical and mental functions of the cerebral, spinal, and sympathetic nerves. These vital airs are as follows:
1. Praan is located in the head and governs the chest, throat, mind, heart, sense organs, intelligence, expectorating, sneezing, belching, inspiration, and swallowing of food.
2. Udaan resides in the chest and controls the nose, navel, and throat, and is responsible for initiating speech, effort, enthusiasm, the capacity to work, complexion, and memory.
3. Vyaan is found in the heart and rapidly moves throughout the body. It regulates all body movements, including walking, raising and lowering of the body parts, and opening and closing the eyes.
4. Samaan is located near the digestive fire. It works in the alimentary tract (absorbing nutrients and excreting wastes), and other abdominal organs. It holds food in the alimentary tract, helps digest it, separates nutrients from waste, and eliminates the waste.
5. Apaan is seated in the colon, and controls the waist, bladder, ge****ls, and thighs. Its main function is downward movement of wastes (f***s, urine), reproductive fluid, menstrual fluid, and it also controls the downward movement of the fetus.

BRAHMA - GOD: LOOKING FOR DEEPER UNDERSTANDING
Acharya Shankar vigorously propounded that Brahma-as-God is without any quality (Nirguna), and so, He is absolutely indeterminate. When ignorance surrounds and conceals Him, He becomes Eeshwar-as-God, and so, possessed with qualities (Saguna). Acharya Raamaanuj criticized Shankar, saying that, in being surrounded and concealed by ignorance, God becomes loaded with evil and so, unworthy of being a spiritual goal. It is the conscious Souls and the unconscious World, Raamaanuj says, that make up God’s qualities. Rishi Dayananda disagrees with both Shankar and Raamaanuj.

When you hear this song, even if it is for the umpteenth time, you well up in tears. Where is India of ancient times? What direction is current India heading into? I just came back from India, and I saw that even Arya Samaj Gurukulas are now giving up the ancient Sanskrit curriculum and opting for a job-oriented Sanskrit curriculum. No more genuine Sanskrit scholars, no more dedicated world missionaries. Ah! Whither Vedic India?
