What shall we do?

After Peter offered clear evidence that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, the Son of God, all those who had any part in His crucifixion asked: "What shall we do?" (Acts 2:37). Peter answers simply and emphatically: "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38). Can there be any question about baptism's role in the remission of sins?

Who can turn to the Lord?

“Jesus said: “Come unto me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 10:28-29

The burdens Jesus refers to are the burdens of the heart and soul: guilt, loneliness, worthlessness, hopelessness, failure, regret, etc. You cannot just decide to get over it. You must get real answers and confront the things that brought you to this point. Full forgiveness is a key element to finding rest.

Jesus’ invitation is extended to everyone! Notice, however, that each one must take on His yoke and learn from Him. Not everyone is willing to do that – but everyone is invited.

If you want His rest, begin to learn from Him. If we can help you, please call or email.

Spiritual knowledge is the result of revelation, not imagination!

LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walks to direct his steps. (Jeremiah 10:23)

If spiritual knowledge is subjective (the result of each person’s own imagination and interpretation), there is no truth. If objective spiritual truth exists, it must exist outside us.
The Bible claims to be the revelation of the truth of God (1 Corinthians 2). Consider the claim. If the claim is valid, hear what the Bible reveals about God and our existence.

Does the church belong to God or people?

Is it my church or His?
Jesus said: “I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it … I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:18-19).

The Bible calls it the church of God and the church of Christ. As long as it is governed and guided by God’s word, it remains His church. As soon as people assume control and determine doctrine, morals, faith and practice, it ceases to be God’s church. Christ is head over all things to the church (Ephesians 1:22-23). It is, truly HIS church.

Let me know if you want to learn more about His church.

How should I choose a church?

The process by which I choose a church depends on what I am looking for. If it is to satisfy my personal needs and desires, I will identify those needs and desires and locate a congregation that fulfills them.

If my search for a church is an effort to please God, then I need to find out what God expects and then search for a church that fills His expectation. The scriptures tells us what God expects! Have you studied The Word carefully enough to see His description of the church of His choice?

Eph 3:20-21 "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

Is any and all worship acceptable to God?
The Bible clearly teaches that not all worship is accepted by God. There are several significant examples of worship that were emphatically rejected by God:
Cain offered a sacrifice that was not accepted by the Lord (Genesis 4:3-6).
Nadab & Abihu offered fire that was not commanded by the Lord and were condemned for it (Leviticus 10:1-2).
King Saul offered an unlawful sacrifice and his dynasty was cut off (1 Samuel 13:9-14)
The nation of Israel is often rebuked in the writings of the prophets because they offer worship and sacrifices while they live in disobedience to God. That worship is rejected.
Ananias and Sapphira both lost their lives because they were dishonest in their offering (Acts 5:1-11).
A Samaritan woman asked Jesus about proper worship in John 4:19-26. She wondered where the right place to worship was. Jesus tells her the Samaritans' worship was wrong. Jesus also indicated that the Jews also failed in their worship. He concludes by saying "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth" (John 4:24). For worship to be acceptable to God it must be done according to His instructions AND it must come from a true and sincere heart or worship.
Unfortunately, not all are worshipping according to the direction and instruction of God. Rather, many are worshiping however they want. Sadly, some who worship are just going through the motions without genuinely offering their devotion to God.
Not all worship is acceptable to God.

Does God require obedience? Must I keep the commandments?

Is it necessary to obey God to maintain a relationship with God? Do I have to keep His commandments in order to be saved? The Gospel of John is often called the gospel of belief because of its clear emphasis on faith. Bible faith, however, does not nullify the necessity of obedience.

Consider the following statements, all made by Jesus, himself, in the Gospel of John.

John 14:15: "If you love Me, keep My commandments.

John 14:21: "He who has MY commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father."

John 14:23: "Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and MY Father will love him, and we will come to him and make Our home with him."

John 14:24: "He who does not love Me does not keep My words..."

John 15:10: "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love."

John 15:14: "You are my friends if you do whatever I command you."

Don't let anyone convince you that you don't have to do what God says.
