Pride Week kicks off this weekend when we light up the grill for our annual Pride Picnic, Sunday right after church!

Then on Pride Sunday we’re teaming up with our friends at St. Mark's Church in the Bowery for Pride Disco Mass with our own Pastor Will preaching. Note that there’s no worship here that day- please head to St Mark’s on 10th St at 2nd Ave!

To cap it all off, we join fellow affirming Lutherans to march in the Pride March, showing the world that queerness and faith go hand-in-hand!

With joyful hearts, this Sunday we celebrated the Thirtieth Anniversary of our beloved church building, originally dedicated on June 9, 1996 after some twenty years of being a church without a home of its own.

Pastor Bob Wollenburg, Trinity’s pastor at the time of construction, preached and shared memories of the sacrifice and hard work of the congregation that made this building possible, and our Hospitality Team created a fabulous waffle bar for the celebration!

We give thanks for all those whose vision and dedication allowed Trinity to literally rise up from the rubble, and we look forward to all that is to come in this sacred space in the next thirty years!

This Sunday we celebrate the Thirtieth Anniversary of the dedication of our beloved church building, dedicated on June 9, 1996.

In 1975 our historic building, once called one of the finest examples of Greek Revival architecture in New York, was condemned and quickly torn town. Worship and parish life moved into the old pastor’s house behind the church, and for twenty years Trinity was, like so many of our neighbors we’ve long served, without a home. In the 1990s, through the perseverance, dedication, and sacrifice of our congregation, the Lower East Side community, and national Lutheran church, Trinity finally arose from the rubble and built our current home. Our building not only houses our worship, learning, and Trinity’s Services, but is a place of healing and hope for the countless community members who come through our doors each year.

On Sunday we will welcome as preacher The Rev. Robert Wollenburg who serves as Trinity’s visionary pastor during this critical time in our history, and worship will be followed by a festive reception. We hope to welcome you on this special day!
