Happy Easter, from Music at St. Paul's! Today, we share a reflection and blessing from one of our choir members, Benjamin Mead.

"It's hard to believe that Holy Week has come and gone, and now we march forward in the Easter season. Perhaps it's not how we envisioned Easter, but here we are. And I've been thinking a lot about touch. I can't tell you how many friends have said, 'I miss hugging people, holding someone's hand.' Human touch is incredibly powerful.

I thought of touch on Good Friday: Jesus touching the cross, Mary reaching out to embrace her son, Veronica wiping his brow. And on Easter, I think of Mary Magdalene. Paintings depict her rushing to touch and embrace Jesus when she recognizes him.

All over our city, our country our world--doctors, nurses, and first responders are offering a human touch to people affected by COVID-19. These folks are providing what is for some patients, their last human encounter before death.

How is God touching your life during this time of pandemic? And how is God touching patients through the hands of healthcare providers? How can we provide a healing touch to others?

Below is a blessing for healing hands, from the Catholic Health Association. If you know someone on the front lines, let's pray this blessing of their hands, and let us never forget that we are held in the loving hands of our loving and resurrected God."

A Blessing of Healing Hands

"Yours are the hands full of experience and skill.
Yours are the hands reaching out with compassion,
Taking time to show care, swiftly taking action.

Yours are the hands gently touching your patients.
You touch families, too.
Yours are the hands that show you care.
You lift the hearts of those who suffer.
Your hands celebrate the joy of healing.
Your hands bless all they touch with the spirit of compassion.

Thank you for sharing your abundance and gifts,
For touching lives and lifting spirits.
Blessings and thanks for the many works of your hands.
May your hands bring healing to all those you touch.

May God bless your hands for healing."

ARCHDIOCESE GUIDELINES TO PROTECT AGAINST THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS

In light of the coronavirus and the uncertainty of how widespread it is or could be, we are on the recommended guidelines of the Archdiocese doing the following until which time it is justified to stop these health precautions:

- The sign of peace should be exchanged without physical contact.

- Distribution of the Precious Blood of Christ from the chalice to parishioners is to be suspended.
Receiving of the Body of Christ on the tongue will not be offered at this time.

- Please feel free to use our Purell hand sanitizer dispensers for your hands.

- The Archdiocese has always advised the faithful that sickness is a valid reason not to attend Mass or other Church gatherings. As such, any individual who is sick or has flu-like symptoms is urged to stay home. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is broadcast on several television channels and the sick can make a "spiritual communion" until they return to good health.

Priests, deacons, and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are urged to practice good hygiene, washing their hands before Mass begins and/or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer solution before and after distributing Holy Communion-as is practiced our practice.
