Faith UMC Food Pantry Distribution Report
Saturday, May 2, 2026
Matthew 25:35–40 (NIV)
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink… Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
On Saturday, May 2, 2026 Faith UMC successfully hosted another impactful food pantry distribution, demonstrating the strength of community, service, and partnership.
The doors opened promptly at 12:00 PM, and by that time, a long line of guests had already formed, stretching around the corner, eagerly awaiting entry. Inside, dedicated volunteers arrived early, took their assigned stations, and stood ready to serve with efficiency and compassion.
We were truly blessed to be supported by a diverse group of volunteers representing several organizations, including Staten Island Advance, Roseville AME Zion Church, Christ United Methodist Church, the Brighton Kiwanis Club, community members, and of course, the faithful members of Faith UMC. Their collective efforts made the day run smoothly and successfully.
Thanks to generous partnerships and donations, our fellowship hall was transformed into what felt like a department store, filled with a wide variety of items. We distributed goods provided by Amazon through Muslim Sisters of Staten Island, Target in collaboration with Marcia Allen from the National Council of Negro Women and Making a Change with Kindness , as well as contributions from numerous Donors from the community
Special appreciation goes to the team who worked tirelessly on Friday to sort and organize the items for distribution. We also extend heartfelt thanks to Georgia Alexander , who thoughtfully prepared over 100 treat bags for mothers, adding a personal and uplifting touch to the day.
In addition to food and household items, we were honored to distribute care packages on behalf of the Dr. Theodore Atlas Foundation. We also partnered with Rethink Food to provide 125 freshly cooked meals from the Lebanese Eatery—one of the most sought-after offerings of the day.
In total, we served approximately 200 families. Within about an hour, most of the distribution tables had been cleared, reflecting both the high demand and the efficiency of our volunteers.
The abundance of items distributed, including food, clothing, produce, pet food, beverages, dinnerwares, children’s items, shoes, toys, books, and even furniture, underscored the significant need within our community.
We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the power of partnerships that make this work possible. It truly takes a village. Faith UMC remains committed to continuing this mission, ensuring that no one is left behind.
