We’re excited to introduce something new: Chai for Israel. 🇮🇱

On the 18th of every month, we’ll highlight an Israeli business we love — and invite our community to discover it, share it and, if something speaks to you, shop it.

Why the 18th? In Jewish tradition, 18 represents chai — life. It feels like a fitting day to celebrate and support the people, creativity and businesses that help Israeli communities thrive.

Our first Chai for Israel is coming October 18. We can’t wait to share it with you.

One Torah. One community. One pretty incredible night. ✨

On Simchat Torah, we reach the end of the Torah and begin again — together. Last night, we unrolled the entire Torah around our sanctuary, surrounded by generations of our Temple Israel community.

We remember. We gather. We hold onto hope.

On October 7, we will come together as a community to mark three years since the attacks of October 7, 2023 — to remember those who were murdered, honor those whose lives were forever changed, and stand together in resilience and hope.

Following a brief memorial service, we are honored to welcome Dr. Shoshan Haran, who was abducted from her home in Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7 and held hostage in Gaza for 50 days alongside members of her family. She will share her story of survival, family, and the journey forward.

Simchat Torah is one of the most joyful nights of the Jewish year and we’re ready to celebrate!

Join us Friday, October 2 at 6:00 pm for an evening filled with music, singing, dancing, Torah and community, followed by a festive oneg.

Everyone is welcome. No tickets. No registration. Just come!

Temple Israel is collecting nonperishable food through November 30 to benefit New York Common Pantry and help support our neighbors across New York City.

Next time you’re at the grocery store, add an extra can, box or jar to your cart and bring it with you to Temple Israel. Small contributions add up quickly when an entire community participates.

Drop-off is in the Temple Israel lobby through November 30.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
We remember the families whose lives were forever changed.
We remember the first responders and all who ran toward danger to help others.

And as New Yorkers, we remember a city that grieved together, cared for one another, and found strength in community.

May the memory of all those we lost be for a blessing. 🕯️
