Ignatius Loyola, a vibrant Roman Catholic faith community served by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Combined with daily and weekly Masses and the celebration of the sacraments, the various ministries of St. Ignatius Loyola work together to nourish the spiritual development of our parishioners, as well as to reach out to the larger community within New Yor

k City. Operating within the framework of Ignatian spirituality and the Jesuit tradition, we seek to answer the Lord’s call in our shared ministry as a true Community of Disciples, gathered in prayer and worship, sharing the Universal Church’s mission of evangelization and service.

On Corpus Christi Sunday, nearly 200 people from Catholic communities across New York City gathered at St. Ignatius Loyola for a joyful procession through the streets of Manhattan. Together, we walked as the Body of Christ, bearing witness to the dignity of every human life.

Following words of welcome and a sending blessing, students from Cristo Rey carried the cross and banner as we made our way north along Park Avenue. When the sky darkened and the rain began to fall, our spirits remained undampened. It felt as though the Holy Spirit was moving among us.

The procession concluded at St. Francis de Sales with lunch and fellowship.

Repost from

Not all Catholic Churches are the same especially if you are part of the LGBTQ community.

Catholic New Yorkers are blessed to have several churches offering a welcoming and loving place for worship.

Throughout the month of June we’ll be highlighting four Catholic Churches here in NYC & - as well as the pioneering work of some of our friends like & .

And as we look to a future where LGBTQ people are treated with the dignity demanded in Catholic Social Teaching, inside & outside of the Catholic Church, we celebrate the newly launched .

Church of St. Ignatius Loyola.
“We are a group of LGBT parishioners and family and friends (and parents) of LGBT persons. We are a parish ministry of, by, and for our le***an, gay, bisexual, and transgender sisters and brothers in Christ and those who love and support them. Our ministry extends to, and embraces, the mission of the entire parish, our home.

Each year our ministry hosts events that aim to foster mutual respect, compassion, and sensitivity between our parish and the wider community on LGBT issues through education and dialogue. We jointly host events with other ministries at St. Ignatius Loyola that aim to bring together the parish community including retreats and the Amazing Race.”

Members of our Ministry of Care to the Sick and Homebound gathered at St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the annual White Mass, a beautiful celebration honoring those who bring comfort, companionship, and compassionate care to the elderly in our parish communities.

This year’s Mass held special significance as Archbishop Ronald A. Hicks celebrated his first White Mass for the Archdiocese. The Carmelite Sisters were also recognized for 74 years of dedicated service and for their remarkable ministry at the Mary Manning Walsh Home in Manhattan.

Join us on Sunday, June 7th, as we proclaim Jesus on the streets of Manhattan.

Beginning with the 11 AM Mass and concluding with lunch at the Church of St. Francis de Sales, we will come together for a Corpus Christi procession filled with prayer, song, banners, and symbols of our faith.

As we walk, we will be demonstrating our solidarity with our brothers and sisters who are being harmed by laws that have failed to protect the most vulnerable.

What to bring: Signs affirming Catholic Social Teaching, printed in color or black & white.

What a joyful Saturday for our Interparish Religious Education Program as our IREP students celebrated their First Holy Communion!

We are incredibly proud of each of our First Communicants as they take this important step in their faith journey.

And, thank you to our teachers and to the families of our First Communicants, whose guidance and support helped make this special day possible.

Rain didn’t stop our Youth Group from setting out on an Upper East Side Church Pilgrimage this Saturday!

Beginning at St. Ignatius, our students made their way to St. Thomas More, Church of the Heavenly Rest, St. Joseph’s in Yorkville, St. Monica’s, St. Stephen’s, and St. Elizabeth’s—capturing a beautiful photo tour along the way.

The day ended the best way, with Mass, pizza, and great company. A little rain, a lot of faith, and a wonderful afternoon together!
