Pharaoh changes his mind, and chases the Israelites. Trapped between their pursuers and the Reed Sea, the Israelites panic, and G‑d splits the sea for them. In the desert G‑d provides water, manna and quails. Two portions of manna must be collected on Fridays, enough for Friday and the Sabbath.

Jacob blesses each of his sons before his passing. He is buried in the Cave of Machpelah in the Holy Land. Joseph dies at age 110, and asks his descendants to bury his remains in the Holy Land. This comes to pass only years later, upon the exodus from Egypt.

Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers, who are overcome with remorse. They return to Canaan and bring their father, Jacob, to be reunited with his son after 22 years. Joseph becomes wealthy, and Pharaoh gives his family the fertile land of Goshen as their own.
