A historic moment over the weekend!

It was an honor to help organize the donation of a Sefer Torah to the United Nations through the Noahide NGO group Started and run by Rabbi Yaakov Cohen. 🙌

The Torah was written in honor of Rabbi Cohen parents.

A Torah of light — dedicated in a place known for its lies — bringing truth and holiness to this renowned global stage. 💫

Huge thanks to Steve Cohen, Esq., for being an honorary guest, and to everyone who made this powerful event possible!

Thank you for participating:

Including Edward Mermelstein and the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs. 🙏

Feeling grateful so many advocates, leaders, and dignitaries from the Mayor’s office came together for this beautiful celebration of Torah. 📜

Unreal! ✨

After watching the first Presidential debate of 2024 last night, I was thinking about how, no matter who takes office, there will always be powerful individuals among us who won't stop until goodness and kindness are everywhere. Above is a picture of my grandfather, Rabbi Shmuel Plotkin (who is in his late nineties, may he live and be well), learning Torah with Reb Asher Sassonkin while awaiting the arrival of his train en route to his occupation in the diamond district.

Hundreds of millions of women have lit billions of lights throughout the world since the giving of the Torah over 3300 years ago. Nonetheless, the Mishana Rabba tells us that the reason women light Shabbat candles is to rectify the sin of Eve. Just like Eve diminished light on the earth, the righteous woman needs to replenish that light. Isn't it enough already? Hasn't there been enough sacrifice in lighting candles to rectify the sin of one woman?

The Chabad Rebbe posed, and answered, this question. He said the sin of Eve was erased and recorded long ago. The reason why Jewish woman still light candles today is that the world is constantly becoming a dark place. People are shifting away from monotheism and the belief that G-d almighty, the creator of heaven and earth,  hand-picked their souls to come down to this world and get to work, i.e., to make the world a better and more moral place.
Therefore, our Jewish women go out at the age of 13 and light Shabbat candles to bring divine light joy and intelligence to the world.
That is why they will never stop until the final redemption comes.

How do you become #1? Abraham was the FIRST person to belive in extreme monotheism. He was so given over to his beliefs he even threw himself into a fiery inferno in order not to bow to a false deity. Avraham's sacrifice  superceded even your own existence.  This is how he became #1 and the father of the Jewish people.

Abraham put in motion the beginning of a 7 generation count down for the Torah to be given on Mount Sinai. Moses was the 7th generation from Abraham.

Just like Moses was privileged to bring redemption to the Jewish people, we again are part of a 7 generation count down, starting from the Alter Rebbe to NOW. We embody this mission of redemption. We didn't choose it or do anything special to receive it.

Action: Fulfill your calling and do all you can to bring the final redemption.

Meditation: Think about how you can be like Avraham and become #1.

In a beautiful synagogue with magnificent ceilings and enchanted chandeliers, I stand alone praying. Amidst my prayers and deep meditation, I suddenly hear a small voice creeping into my mind and it says "Eliyahu, you think you are so holy? Standing here pretending you are a saint! Don't you remember that yesterday you sinned? Stop this foolishness and continue on your day as usual."

Sadly, too often the evil inclination uses this technique to stop us from serving God. What can we do to counteract these tricks of the evil inclination? As the Alter Rebbe explains in the book Tanya, to stay focused we need to tell ourselves to stop being self-righteous and that these thoughts arise because we are accomplishing good and growing spiritually.

So, when that inner voice starts whispering doubts, know that you are moving in the right direction and to keep up the hard work.

Meditation: Picture yourself in the above situation. How do you respond to that inner voice and master your thoughts?

Is it the fires of hell? The fires of lust or passion? What is the meaning of the idea that fire is needed to purify our soul?

The FIRE that we usually refer to is the consuming fire that comes as a result of our prayers. A fire in which we channel love and fear for our creator. The greater we focus on our prayers and channel these primarily emotions, the more we create internal fire to connect with our creator. This in turn will melt down the filth that covers our minds and our hearts, ultimately revealing the purity that resides in each one of us.

Just as the heat in the hands of a gold miner is used to separate the gold from the other minerals that are mined with it, the same is true of the soul. It can never be tainted just covered temporarily.

Meditation:  Think about the power of prayer befor you pray.

We were always taught that we can accomplish anything we put our mind to. Is that true?
My lifelong dream has been to open a Local Jewish Center for those we are here to serve, and in order to fulfill that dream, we need to raise a very large sum of money. Can we all accomplish something great even if it doesn’t come to us naturally?

In my studies, I came across a teaching from the Chassidic masters that left me awe-struck: how is it that a Jew in the 21st century thinks that he can bring about the final redemption? If Moses, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Akiva, and all the greats that superseded us could not, how can we? We are so minute that we are not even in the same league as the giants of Torah and saintliness. So how can we venture to say that we can bring Moshiach?

600,000 souls stood at the foot of Mount Sinai at the giving of the Torah. They are all sent down to this earth many times so that they may accomplished their goal that G-d set out for them at the beginning of creation. Each one of these souls now has a history of 3339 years of returning to earth. We are giving them the ability and strength to summon their good deeds and energy.
Therefore, you have the ability to be even greater than our forefathers. That is the meaning of the phrase "We are midgets standing on the shoulders of giants". So yes, you just need to connect to become whatever you want to be.

Meditation: How can you connect to your positive past? You need to meditate on the teaching of chassidut and Torah, which will broaden your mind and soul.

These are my grandparents who are both holocaust survivers may they live to 120.

Recently I read that if you had a moment of silence for every Jew that died during the holocaust there would be a silence for over 11 years...... The Chabad Rebbe was once asked to sign on a petition that all Jews across the globe should have a few EMPTY seats at the Passover table. This would be a remembrance of the six million souls that where slaughter  therefor cannot sit at the seder table each year. The Rebbe responded, “I think, on the contrary, we should ADD a few new guests to our tables every year.”
I propose that this year instead of being silent for 11 years. We RAISE our voices in unison to ask G-d to end this exile and bring the days of the revival of the dead with all our fallen breathers who died Al Kiddush Hashem (for the sanctity of G-d’s name).

Today's action: We are now in the Jewish month of miracle and do not mourn. Reach out to one new person right now. Do not wait another moment, and inspire them to live with Jewish pride and do a mitzvah.
