We can't wait to gather this Saturday with Post-Evangelical Collective friends from the Northeast! If you haven't already, please be sure to register through Eventbrite: bit.ly/PECnortheast2026

Our time together will be centered around relationship-building and spiritual exploration as we seek to collectively (re)imagine the future of life-giving, Jesus-centered spirituality. As individuals, as members of local communities, and as contributors to a broader movement, we will consider questions like: Who are we? What are we for? And what are we building?

We will have the opportunity to hear and respond to a talk from noted Christian ethicist, and PEC Wisdom Board member, Dr. David P. Gushee, who will share his perspective on the future of the post-evangelical movement; eat a delicious lunch together from Sahara’s Turkish Cuisine; and have lots of opportunities to get to know one another and connect over shared interests and questions.

It’s going to be a great day and we can’t wait to spend it with you!

" I am inspired by this idea that none of us is responsible for the whole — that, instead, as each one of us tends to our part, beautiful possibilities emerge across the entire community." (Alison Noll, 9/27/26)

"There is nowhere that God is not. You and me, and earth and sky, and fields of flowers, and sewage treatment plants, and friend and foe and joy and heartbreak - it’s all somewhere God lives, and all somewhere God hopes and breathes and loves." (Steve Watson, 9/20/26)

Whether you attend the River in person or online, if you consider the River your church home, we'd love to have you participate in this year's River Census!

At the River, everyone counts, which is why we want you to be counted! We want your voices to be heard so we can know how we can best support you in the year ahead. And we want to provide space for each of us — individually and collectively — to think intentionally about our hopes and dreams for the River in 2027.

In the census packet we’ve included prompts to support your own reflection; a survey to help you share your valuable perspectives; and information around potential ways to engage.

The census period is now open and will run through November 15 — the final Sunday of the Fall sermon series. We have printed copies available at the church and there is also a digital version that you can fill out online.

"As members of the River community we are invited to be both guests - who are fully participating in and enjoying the party. And also hosts at the table - who are helping to shape and co-create the communal experience for everyone who attends...It's a vision where veryone matters and each person's presence makes a difference." (Alison Noll, 9.13.26)

At the River, about 5 to 6 times a year we use a special service format that we call Conversation Church! Instead of hearing a sermon, we engage with one another through intentional, guided conversations.

So often at church we sit side by side without truly getting to know one another. But during Conversation Church, as we sit around tables and approach conversation as a spiritual practice, we have the opportunity to learn about one another, to deepen connections, and to consider diverse perspectives on life and faith.

As with everything at the River, participation is always by invitation — how much and what you share is up to you!

We'd love for you to join us for Conversation Church this Sunday and in the meantime don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.
