This Sunday is Trinity Sunday, the first Sunday after Pentecost and the first Sunday after Eastertide!

This is also the last Sunday of the 2025-2026 choral season and both our children's choir and professional adult choir will be singing for the last time this season! Both will take a break for the summer beginning in June, and they'll be singing music by Brian Lewis and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, with organ voluntaries by Bach.

Join us for worship at 10:30 am! If you can't make it in-person, the service is also streamed on our YouTube channel.

This Sunday is the Day of Pentecost, but in England it's often called Whitsunday! This may be a linguistic mistake. Whitsunday means white Sunday, but it may come from an Old English term meaning wisdom Sunday (something like wit-Sunday), since it commemorates the Holy Spirit's wisdom comind down.

Whatever the case may be, celebrate with us in church on Sunday at 10:30!

Wear red on Sunday!

This coming Sunday, May 24, is the Day of Pentecost (aka Whitsunday), often called the birthday of the church! Ten days after Jesus's Ascension, his followers gathered in Jerusalem and the Holy Spirit came down in tongues of fire and caused them to speak in different languages. They then set out to spread the gospel around the world.

We encourage everyone to wear red as a symbol of Pentecost!

Today is the Feast of the Ascension, one of the principal feasts of the church, commemorating Jesus's Ascension into heaven 40 days after his resurrection!

We'll have our own Ascension celebration this coming Sunday, the Seventh Sunday of Easter, at 10:30 am as usual. The Rev. Jennie Talley will celebrate the Eucharist and preach, and music will include works by Bach, Byrd, and Purcell. Join us!

This Sunday is the Second Sunday of Easter, aka Low Sunday, when we hear the story of doubting Thomas. Join us at 10:30 am for worship!

The choir has the week off, but we have an excellent cantor and we'll hear music by Leonard Bernstein, Handel, Bach, and Nivers! The Rev. Canon Alissa Newton will celebrate the Eucharist and the Rev Jennie Talley will preach.

It's almost time for the most important week of the church year! Holy Week starts this coming Sunday, March 29, with our celebration of Palm Sunday. We'll start with a joyful procession around the block and return to the church to observe Jesus's passion. Join us at 10:30 am! Though the service will be live-streamed, you'll miss the procession unless you're there in person!

Music will include works by Victoria, John Ireland, Bruckner, Bach, and Brahms.

And join us for the rest of Holy Week! Tenebrae on Wednesday at 7, Maundy Thursday at 7, Good Friday at noon, and the Easter Vigil on Saturday at 7!

03/25/2026

Today is the Feast of the Annunciation, celebrating the Angel Gabriel's appearance to Mary and announcement that she would bear a son! It's a major feast of the church, and, as you may have noticed, it's exactly 9 months before Christmas Day!

We also have one more Wednesday of our Lenten programming this evening, from 6:30-8 pm. Join us for soup, scripture, and prayer in the church!

Lent is almost halfway over, so it's time to think about Holy Week and Easter, the most important and moving week of the church year! Each of these services is unique, so we hope to see you at many of them as you can attend!

Sunday, March 29 is Palm Sunday. Join us for a special service at 10:30 am, including an outdoor procession and a dramatic reading of the Passion!

On Wednesday, April 1, often called Spy Wednesday, we'll offer a service of Tenebrae (literally, darkness) at 7:00 pm, combining ancient liturgy and music with modern electronic instruments and featuring Francois Couperin's work, "Lecons de Tenebres"

Thursday, April 2 is Maundy Thursday. We'll have a service at 7:00 pm including washing of feet and the procession to the altar of repose, representing the garden at Gethsemene.

Friday, April 3 is Good Friday. Join us for our service at noon, including the chanting of the passion, the solemn collects, stations and veneration of the cross, and communion from the reserved sacrament.

Saturday, April 4 is Easter Eve or Holy Saturday. We'll celebrate the Great Vigil of Easter at 7:00 pm, which includes the lighting of the new fire, the Holy Sabbath prophecies, the blessing of the font, and the first Holy Eucharist of Easter!

And, of course, Easter Day is on Sunday, April 5. Join us for a festive service at our usual time, 10:30 am!

Meanwhile, all are welcome at our 10:30 am Sunday service for the rest of Lent (and beyond) and for our Wednesday scripture study, soup, and prayer at 6:30 pm!

02/27/2026

Lent continues this Sunday, March 1, the Second Sunday in Lent! As always, our Sunday worship is at 10:30 am in the church. Canon Alissa Newton will celebrate the Eucharist and preach, and the music department will offer works by Bach, Farrant, and Stainer.

Also, we have Lenten programming with prayer, meditation, and soup every Wednesday from 6:30pm-8pm, through March 25! Join us on Wednesday!
