There is a version Isaiah we see in the scriptures that is a quiet, vulnerable me and even tender individual. This is different from what we are seeing today with a large amount of self-proclaiming Christian leaders who confuse cultural power with the presence of God.

Plus hear Dan and many more cultural voices in our community THIS SATURDAY at the City Relief Summit being held at Mosaic Roosevelt Island. Details in our stories.

God’s mercy isn’t pretending that evil isn’t happening - but an invitation to pursue justice and still refuse to dehumanize. No one is beyond redemption.

When we look at how we view our God and how Jesus was a direct reflection of Him, we don’t see fear. We see love. We see acceptance and empathy. And when we are to model our lives after Jesus, we must lead with that empathy, love & acceptance. Not fear.

When we put platform, power, influence & celebrity ahead of taking care of the poor and those in need, we not only sidestep the poor but cause and perpetuate their poverty. Jesus was not about platform, power or influence. He was about being with and looking after the poor and lost in our communities.

How do we critique, discern, and judge what is right and good in a world of brokenness and pain without becoming the self righteous voice the culture already assumes we are (as the church)

We live in a time of constant outrage, anger, frustration, confusion. Now, more than ever, we need to hear the voices of prophets both ancient and modern. Prophets don’t just foretell the future, but most often they tell the present - showing us where we are, where we are heading, and where we need to go.

Hear the whole sermon from Pastor Amanda Talmage Sadlier on the prophet Moses and the prophets of the Bible in our new series ‘Holy Tears’ available now on YouTube and our website 📺
