Good Day my Sistas and my Brothas,
Political and cultural chaos and upheaval have been a part of our existence since the days of Jesus, beginning with the Pharisees and the Jews, and what happened on January 6th, 2021 is no different. What we saw last Wednesday has shown us that we are still fighting an endless issue with no resolution in sight, but beloved no matter our political views or our individual culture, or our individual values or our individual morals, we are instructed in the bible to “pray for those in authority”. In, the bible in a letter written by the Apostle Paul to Timothy states it so clearly and with strength,
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Timothy 2: 1-2 NIV)
1 Timothy 2: 1-2 (NIV)The bible makes it clear, the bible does not confuse nor are the words in the bible sugar coated, the word stands strong and viable. Let us always remember the pressure that comes along with any elevation, with any upgrade, with any title, this is why we are told in the word:
“When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers, but a ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains orders” (Proverbs 28:2 NIV).
My point to each of you is this, that no matter what transpired on January 6, 2021, we must still continue to pray and to proclaim the importance of lifting up our leaders in prayer. Let me make something clear, we are to pray for all leaders, not just the “one’s that we like or agree with”. Amen!
There are so many scriptures that can also be used, but I expect that you will either have your own or search the scripture for other scriptures that will be able to minister to you, but in the meantime, it is my hope and my prayer that these scriptures will minister to your heart, because they are definitely ministering to my heart. There is another scripture that I want to leave with you as I come to an end of this message, this scripture is most important during this time than any other time, this scripture speaks volumes and volumes to these perilous times that we are living in and I want you to go to your bible during your devotional time and “read this scripture over and over and over, until it becomes a part of you and I want you to share it with others who are not sure what is going on in the world today, I want you to write this scripture down on paper and post it and put it on your night table, on your bathroom mirror to see as you brush your teeth and on your bedroom mirror as you are checking to make sure that you are ready to go into the world on any given day, and put it on your front door to remind you of what you will encounter once you walk out of your homes each day. But most importantly, hold it in your heart because soon, the bible will not be available to us. But if you carry the word in your heart, it will never depart from you and teach your family, they may not understand now, but by and by they will understand.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places”( Ephesians 6:12 NKJV).
It is my hope and prayer that you will remain in prayer for our new incoming leaders, to President Joseph R. Biden and Madam Vice President Kamala D. Harris and their entire administration, who will enter the White House (The House of The People) on January 20, 2021. And, let us continue to follow the above scriptures and I will leave you with one more that we all need to hold on too,
“Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (Hebrew 10:23 NKJV)
Be blessed and remain “steadfast and unmoving in seeking God each and every day and let not your hearts grow weary in well doing, for soon and very soon this season of “uncertainty” will come to an end.
