We give thanks today for the consecration of the Rt. Rev. Matthew Foster Heyd at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan. We are honored that Bishop Matt visited Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen on Thursday, and we pray for him, for his family, and for his new ministry among us!

Today marks the beginning of Holy Week, as we celebrate Palm Sunday. Join us at 9am for the Liturgy of the Palms and Holy Eucharist, or at 11am for the Liturgy of the Palms, Palm Procession, Presentation of the Gospel according to Saint Matthew, and Holy Eucharist. You can worship with us in person, or find the livestream through our website, holyapostlesnyc.org. Here is our choir singing “Have mercy upon me, O God” (Thomas Tomkins, 1572-1656) – may our hearts be filled as we enter into Holy Week.

Holy Week is almost here, and we hope you will worship with us at Holy Apostles, in person or online. The services during Holy Week will be:

Palm Sunday – April 2 at 9 am and 11 am
Maundy Thursday – April 6 at 7 pm
Good Friday - April 7 at 12 noon
Easter Vigil – April 8 at 7 pm
Easter Sunday – April 9 at 11 am Procession and Festival Eucharist

This Sunday, March 26, author Miguel Escobar will join us as our guest preacher! After the 11 am service he will also lead a forum based on his recent book, The Unjust Steward: Wealth, Poverty, and the Church Today. Escobar grounds the discussion of wealth and poverty in the teachings of Jesus, weaving in the words of early church leaders and his own personal experience. The Unjust Steward presents a compelling case for a profound overhaul in the way the church and its people value the poor and transform into servants of God instead of stewards of wealth. Tomorrow, February 22, we mark the arrival of Lent with Ash Wednesday. You can join us in the morning for Holy Eucharist with the Imposition of Ashes at 8am and in the evening for Choral Eucharist and the Imposition of Ashes at 7pm. Ashes will also be distributed in the sanctuary 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 3 pm. The evening service will also be livestreamed at https://events.locallive.tv/events/93176.
