What is my purpose?)Romans8:28

There is a difference between purpose and assignments. My Brother, Elder Marlon Barrington preached a marvelous sermon on pirpose which inspired me to write extensively on it and defining it s little deeper.

purpose? People ask this question a lot nowadays. It seems like everyone, both in and out of the church, is trying to discover their life’s purpose. That’s great, and I do believe that God has a purpose for allowing each of us to come into this world, I believe He has things that He wants each of us to do on the earth and He knows the plans that He laid out for each individual person. I also believe that until a person fully surrenders their life to God, they won’t fully walk out the plans that God has for them.

Purpose is an awesome thing and we all want to live life with purpose; we all want to live full and fulfilled lives and do things that we love. However, I also believe that what we in the church today have defined and labeled as “purpose” is not purpose but assignment(s) and sometimes gifts He has given us to carry out those assignments. Christians often say things like, my purpose is to be a teacher, a preacher, to be a millionaire, a wife, a prophet, a lawyer, a businessman/woman, to travel the world and preach, etc. But in actuality, according to the Word of God, those things are not our purpose, those things are our assignments. When you are in Christ and called according to HIS purpose (see Rom. 8:28), those things can’t be our purpose because they aren’t HIS PURPOSE, they are assignments.

So, what’s the difference and the connection between PURPOSE and ASSIGNMENT? PURPOSE is defined as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists; Something set up as an objective or end to be attained; intention. The thing is since before the creation of man, God already laid out a purpose – objective, intention, reason for creating – mankind. So if God has a purpose already laid out for us, that means we as His children can’t have a “purpose” that isn’t HIS PURPOSE. I want to highlight a few verses to explain this. The first verse is Genesis 1:26 which says, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.’” God created mankind to be made into His image and likeness; this was His objective, His end goal, and His intention for our existence. Now ever since the fall of man, we’re no longer automatically born in His image and likeness, we are now born in a sinful nature – the nature of Adam, the first man. That’s why Jesus came to make us born-again through Him, the New Man. When we are born again, we go through the lifelong process of sanctification to be conformed to the image of the Son – Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29). Jesus came to help us get back on the track of fulfilling God’s original purpose, intention, and design for mankind. Jesus Christ came to return us back to The Father because the Father’s purpose for us was ALWAYS for us to be like Him in His image and likeness.

Milk or meat (Heb.5:12-14)
In Christian theology and practice, the difference between mature and imature believers lies less in the amount of time someone has been a Christian and more how they respond to conflict, mannage their emotions and apply biblical principles to theit r daily lives

and meat (often translated as "solid food") are spiritual metaphors for a believer's maturity.Milk: Represents the foundational, basic teachings of faith (e.g., repentance, baptism) meant for spiritual infants or new believers.Meat: Represents deeper, more complex theological truths and practical wisdom meant for mature believers who can discern right from wrong.Key Biblical ReferencesHebrews 5:12-14: The author of Hebrews laments that believers who should be teaching others still require "milk" rather than "solid food" because they lack spiritual maturity.1 Corinthians 3:1-3: The Apostle Paul tells the Corinthian church he had to feed them with "milk, not meat" because their jealousy and division showed they were still acting like immature "babes in Christ".Literal Meaning (Dietary Laws)While metaphorical in the New Testament, the physical separation of milk and meat holds strict literal meaning in the Old Testament and Jewish tradition. Now we come to the characteristics of a mature Christian: they grows in the fruit os the Spirit. (Gal5:22-23) They seek unity and love others; They are committed to their faith Community, handle conflicts constructively, and seek to bar others burdens rather than than isolating themselves. They practice grace and patience: They don’t merely know scripture, but actively apply it by obeying God’s commands and showing graceto imperfection people. Pushed down but I’m still standing (2 Cor4:9-1

The Apostle Paul describes the hardships of spreading the gospel. Despite facing intense criticism, opposition and physical attacks from within and without. He emphasizes that God never abandons His followers. These verses highlight how the physical suffering of believers (you and me)reveals victorious resurrection power of Jesus Christ.Persecuted but not forsaken: like Paul, we sometimes experience intense hatred and opposition for our faith, but we’re never alone. God remained intimately present to protect and guide us. ast dowh but not destroyed: (thats where I garnered my topic.”pushed down but I’m still standing.”)This wrestling or military metaphor describes being knocked to the ground by an enemy. While believers may suffer severe blows, trials, or sudden emergencies, God ensures we are never entirely defeated.
Bearyabout in the body, the dying of the Lord Jesus: Paul views his physical suffering as an imitation of Christ. Just eJesus endured hardship and a physical death, Paul’s and our physical body bore the scars, exhaustion, and perils of our missionary work. Hhe sees his struggles as a way to physically carry the reality of Jesus suffering. Thats why He wrote in Romans 8 :18” For i recon that the suffering this present time are not worthy to bycompared with the glory that shall be revealed in us.” 3 surgy, 4 strokes, 1 aneurism, but through it all i am still standing, look at what you’ve been through, yes pushed down by circumstances, but we’re still standing.
