Selichot are Saturday night!

As a reminder, Selichot are special prayers for forgiveness and reflection that help prepare us spiritually for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. For Ashkenazi Jews, the first communal Selichot service traditionally takes place late at night on the Saturday before Rosh Hashana.

In Skokie, Illinois, those words from the parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, the Israeli-American hostage who was later killed by Hamas, have become action.

Hersh’s Fridge, believed to be America’s first kosher community fridge, provides free food to anyone in need, turning Hersh’s memory into kindness, dignity and community.

What an extraordinary way to honor his life. 💛

Gloria Steinem, the pioneering feminist, journalist and activist, has died at 92.

The daughter of a Jewish father, Steinem took pride in her Jewish roots and drew inspiration from her grandmother, Pauline, a kosher-keeping suffragist and communal leader.

“Wherever there is antisemitism, I identify as a Jew.”
