Representatives from The Middle Way Temple, New York participates in 2026 Vesak Celebration at Times Square.

Representatives from The Middle Way Temple, New York was honored to participate in the 2026 Vesak Celebration, hosted by Fo Guang Shan Temple, New York in collaboration with the Buddhist Council of New York. The event took place at Times Square on Saturday, May 2, from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

The morning ceremony began at 10:30 AM with welcoming remark from the host, followed by chanting sessions led by representatives from various Buddhist traditions. These blessings were offered for the well-being. Attendees were then invited to take part in the traditional “Bathing the Buddha” ceremony.

The afternoon program commenced at 2:00 PM, featuring opening remark by the President of Buddha's Light International Association New York, followed by an Ode to the Triple Gem, a Prayer for World Peace, and a Dedication of Merits. Distinguished guests from the Buddhist Council of New York delivered speeches, and the program concluded with thank-you remarks from the Director of Fo Guang Shan New York Temple. The celebration continued with a series of cultural performances.

Participants expressed their honor and joy in joining this meaningful event and extended their appreciation to the organizers and collaborators for bringing the Buddha’s celebration to the heart of Times Square. The event served as a powerful reminder of the Buddha’s message of peace and harmony, especially significant during these challenging times around the world.

The Middle Way Temple, New York wraps up April events and aims for May programs.

During April 2026, four meritorious activities were held at The Middle Way Temple, New York. The first activity was a new series, The Middle Way Meditation 7-Session Program, conducted on Wednesdays, April 15, 22, and 29. The second activity was Sunday Wisdom Class, held on April 5 and 19. The third activity, GEMW Gathering #38: The Flower of Wisdom, took place on April 12 during Songkran period. Then, the fourth and final activity, The Middle Way 1-Day Retreat #2: The Mastery of Stillness was held on April 26.

For upcoming events in May, we will host a Full Moon Meditation on May 1, continue 7-session series on Wednesday on May 6, 13, 20, and 27; Sunday Wisdom Class on May 3, 17, 24, and 31 and GEMW Gathering #39: The Buddha’s Mothers on May 10.

Various Meritorious Programs in March and several New Programs in April at The Middle Way Temple, New York

During March 2026, there were three meritorious activities held at The Middle Way Temple, New York. The first activity was Wednesday Meditation Class, conducted on March 4, 11, 18, and 25. The second activity was Sunday Wisdom Class, held on March 1, 15, 22, and 29. The third activity was GEM Gathering #37: Season Change, which took place on March 8. In addition, there was a special merit-making activity on March 12 at Thai Pavilion Restaurant in Midtown Manhattan area, This special merit-making event was organized in celebration of the restaurant’s opening.

For the upcoming events in April, we will start a new series of “The Middle Way Meditation 7-Session Program” on Wednesday, April 15, 22, 29 and Sunday Wisdom Class on April 5 and 19. GEMW Gathering #38: The Flower of Wisdom will be held on April 12 in the occasion of “Songkran” Thai New Year Celebration. We will also organize a Full Moon Meditation on April 2 and The Middle Way 1-Day Retreat #2: The Mastery of Stillness on April 26.

October 2025 Highlights at The Middle Way Temple, New York

Throughout October 2025, The Middle Way Temple, New York organized four meritorious activities:

1. Wednesday Meditation Class
Held weekly on October 8, 15, 22, and 29, offering participants a peaceful space to cultivate mindfulness and inner calm.

2. Sunday Wisdom Class
Conducted on October 19 and 26, guiding attendees to deepen their understanding of Buddhist principles and apply them in daily life.

3. GEM Gathering #32 — “The Way of Retreat”
This special gathering took place on October 5, focusing on the importance of retreat practice and spiritual restoration.

4. Special Ceremonies & Community Appreciation
• October 14: A warm welcome ceremony was held in honor of the Senior Monk from Thailand, Head of the Foreigner Affairs Department of Dhammakaya Temple, during his visit to The Middle Way Temple.
• October 18: A heartfelt appreciation event was organized to thank all the restaurants that support the temple. Each participating restaurant was presented with an Honor Certificate in recognition of their generosity.

Monk Burin Shares Wisdom on "The Buddha’s Way to a Successful Life" at Indonesian Temple in Queens, New York

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, Monk Burin was invited to lead the Sunday Service at Vihara Parivara Dhamma Acala, the Indonesian Temple in Queens, New York. The event began with the five precepts and Paritta chanting, led by Mr. Sonny, President of the Indonesian Buddhist Community in New York.

Monk Burin then guided the attendees in peaceful meditation before giving an inspiring talk on "The Buddha’s Way to a Successful Life." He shared the GEM practice — Giving, Ethics, Meditation — as simple yet powerful steps for daily meritorious actions. He also expressed his gratitude and shared photos from the HTC (Humanity Transformation Conference) event.

After the talk, Monk Burin answered thoughtful questions from both Indonesian and American students, helping them deepen their understanding of Buddhist practices for daily life. The attendees were inspired by the teachings and are eager to hear from Monk Burin again soon. The event concluded with a lovely group photo, capturing the warm, uplifting atmosphere.

4 Meritorious Activities in September at The Middle Way Temple, New York

During September 2025, there were 4 meritorious activities at The Middle Way Temple, New York. The first activity was Wednesday Meditation Class on September 3, 10 and 17. The second activity was Sunday Wisdom Class on September 21. The third activity was GEM Gathering #31: Sharing is Great on September 14. And the fourth activity was a special activity on September 7 at Vajiradhammapadip Temple, Long Island, New York. Monk Burin, the Abbot of The Middle Way Temple, New York, joined the meeting with more than 100 Abbots of Thai Temples in USA. While other monks and staff from The Middle Way Temple, NY joined offering tea and refreshment to all monks .
