Before she became the first native-born American saint, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton was a wife, mother, educator, and servant to the poor. Her faith helped shape Catholic education in the United States and continues to inspire generations of Americans.

As we commemorate America 250, we remember the Catholic men and women whose lives helped shape our nation.

"Mary kept all these things, pondering them in her heart" (Luke 2:19).

Through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, may we draw closer to her Son, with hearts open, humble, and full of love.

Today we celebrate St. Barnabas, the "Son of Encouragement." An early leader of the Church, he welcomed St. Paul after his conversion and helped spread the Gospel throughout the Roman world.

His life reminds us that faith grows when we encourage others and lead them closer to Christ.
