We used this very special chalice for Communion today. It was purchased for the first communion at John Street after the Christmas Conference of 1784. The conference established the Methodist Episcopal Church as an independent denomination in the United States, separating it from the Church of England. Beginning on Christmas Eve, approximately 60 Methodist preachers gathered to shape the structure of the new American church.

Happy Pride from John Street, where all are welcome indeed!
