Bishop Lamor Whitehead and His Legal Team Move to Vacate Conviction, Citing Political Targeting and Prosecutorial Misconduct
New York, NY – August 27, 2025 – Bishop Lamor Whitehead, who has continuously maintained his innocence, has filed a motion to dismiss his case or vacate his conviction and is seeking immediate release on bail.
The motion highlights:
• Misconduct by former U.S. Attorney Damian Williams, who faced scrutiny for using high-profile prosecutions—such as Whitehead’s and Mayor Eric Adams’—to raise his public profile.
• Evidence that federal agents admitted Whitehead was targeted not for his own conduct but as a means to “get the mayor of New York.”
• The fact that Executive Order 14147, which ended political weaponization of prosecutions, was applied to dismiss the case against Mayor Adams—yet the same investigation was used against Bishop Whitehead, who suffered the same misconduct cited in support of the dismissal of the Mayor’s case.
“This case has been improperly motivated from the start, and Bishop Whitehead deserves the same justice afforded to others targeted in the tainted investigation,” said his legal team.
