The Catholic Center at NYU

The Catholic Center at NYU The center of Catholic university life in New York City. We serve more than 145,000 students at 10 colleges/universities in NYC.

Our Goal: Making Professional Catholics

The Catholic Center at NYU is the center of Catholic university life for students in New York City. The ministry supports Catholic students in their academic and career goals while also helping them grow in their Catholic faith and foster a relationship with Jesus Christ. The Catholic Center at NYU supports the university and college students in New York Ci

ty, especially at New York University. The Dominican directors and chaplains of the center provide Mass and confession throughout the week, time for spiritual direction, and support for the various Catholic student clubs in New York City. Along with this, the Catholic Center works to connect Catholic students with Catholic professionals in their field of study through events for specific areas of professional interest, such as business or the arts. To do this, the center works with Catholic professionals in New York City who desire to offer their wisdom and expertise to help college students in both their career and Catholic faith. The Catholic Center also offers a physical space for events, meetings, recreation, and personal study. We welcome all undergraduate and graduate students who are members of Catholic student clubs to use the Catholic Center space for their study and recreation.

Happy Last Day of Classes!

Before finals take over, take a moment to look back at some of the highlights from The Catholic Center at NYU. From mass to meals shared together to everything in between, it’s been a beautiful school year.

So grateful for everyone in this community.

As the semester comes to a close, the doors of The Catholic Center were open for one last NYU NightFire of the school year.

Students, neighbors, and passersby wandered off the streets inside to light a candle, rest in Gregorian chant, and enter into prayer.

In the middle of a busy city, there was stillness in the noise of New York.

Grateful for all of you who walked through these doors this year. 🕯️

Last week, The Catholic Center at NYU hosted a cross-law school Christian mixer, bringing together students from Columbia Law, NYU Law, Pace Law, CUNY Law, New York Law School, Rutgers Newark Law School, Brooklyn Law School, Hofstra Law, Seton Hall, and St. John’s.

The evening was an opportunity for law students across the New York City area to connect, share, and build community beyond their own campuses.

Grateful for the student leaders who put in the work to make this happen and for everyone who came out for the night.

What does success look like?

Earlier this semester The Catholic Center at NYU hosted an evening of reflection and dialogue with three distinguished leaders: Charles Bertolami (Dean of the NYU College of Dentistry), Diane Ferguson (Head of Financial Institutions & Managing Director at Mizuho Americas Bank), and Jeffrey Eugenides (Pulitzer Prize-winning author and NYU Professor).

This discussion explored diverse perspectives on leadership and achievement.

Grateful for the guests who give their time to invest in our community and for those who joined in for the conversation.

For the first time ever, over 700 students, faculty, and community members took to the streets of New York City beginning at processing around Washington Square Park together to The Catholic Center at NYU.

Until midnight, our chapel at 238 Thompson Street offered a space of prayer, reflection, and faithful witness. In the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world, we kept watch with Christ in the garden.

Grateful beyond words for this community and for the sacred journey we took together during Holy Week

How is artificial intelligence reshaping business, strategy, and the choices we make as humans?

Last week at the Catholic Center at NYU, students gathered for a conversation with Manuela Veloso, Former Head of J.P. Morgan Chase AI Research, and Foster Provost, Professor at NYU Stern and Director of the Data Science and AI Initiative at Stern’s Fubon Center, for a timely talk titled “AI at the helm.”

They shared their expertise on how technology guides decisions, creates opportunities, and challenges human judgment.

A reception followed with live jazz, food, and a continuation of the discussion.

Grateful to our speakers for sharing their knowledge and for everyone who joined us for this event at the Catholic Center at NYU.
