Our UN NGO representative, Sr. Barbara Bozak, is quoted in this story from National Catholic Reporter about the United States' withdrawal from 66 U.N. entities and related organizations, including the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change.

"Still, it is disappointing, she said, that the U.S., a key founder of the United Nations in 1945 and a dominant influence at the world body since, seems intent on opposing and chipping away at global multilateral cooperation. 'The United Nations is about building relationships — relationships that make everyone better off,' she said. 'That should be in the interest of the United States.'"

The United States — the largest source of historical emissions and top user and producer of oil and gas — will stand as the only country in the world not part of the agreement.

Last month was the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations. Sr. Barbara Bozak, our UN NGO representative, spoke to Global Sisters Report on the violence that impacts women across the world.

Sisters who attended the 69th session of the U.N.'s Commission on the Status of Women (March 10-21) spoke of progress and pushback since the 1995 Beijing Declaration.

The JCoR Members' Board met to discuss progress on our work plan, advocacy initiatives, and program offerings. The time we shared together reinvigorated our commitment to capacity building and collectively advocating for social, economic, and environmental justice.
