As we continue to dialogue about our nation's attack on Iran, and other dynamics of the morality of war, please put some time aside to watch the following documentary film featuring interviews with veterans of Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Featured as our Religions for Peace USA Interfaith dialogue this month, including a discussion with film director Catie Foertsch and veteran Garett Reppenhagen, I was impressed indeed. I firmly believe that content such as this must be part of any honest dialogue. Please give this a look.

The production company is seeking wider distribution, and you may have contacts that can help. Write to me directly [email protected] and I will offer you further contact information. Here's the film link:

A gripping, intimate account of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. With searing candor, veterans share personal stories from their deployments and explore the epic tragedy of their wars.

Fans of Puccini's TURANDOT, might enjoy this new, re-pointed ending (never complete by Puccini due to his death) by Christopher Tin. I just read about it in the NYTIMES Arts and Leisure section. You can listen to this new finale and follow the composers notations and the score all at the same time. Some beautiful motifs here, including a reference to Wagner's Tristan und Isolde! Worth a listen for sure.

Eighteen Years ago+ I began to publicize my LUKE LIVE! ministry on the Gospel of Luke with earnest. Now I am working primarily in Interfaith ministry and oversee the Paulist Lay Associates. I find it hard to believe I actually created this video myself using I cannot remember what editing software! The song I recorded with my friend Peter Torsiello on guitar at his home studio in Phoenix. I thought I would share it with you now. If I get any requests for Luke Live now, I offer it only as a one evening event. Here is the old promotion:

Paulist Father James DiLuzio has created a dramatic proclamation of the Gospel of Luke with preaching, meditations, sacred and secular songs. Power Point sl...

Listen to this speech from Shakespeare delivered by Ian McKellen. Beautiful. Inspiring. God bless all immigrants and nations that discern their entry in ways that respect them, offer them the dignity that is due. Not every immigrant will be admitted, nor can they be. Yet, not every immigrant is a criminal. All need to be treated with respect, not as chattel. And remember: Some arrive here because of our nation's policies with their native country.

One More Post Today: I ran across another "Blast from the Past" by listening to Joan Osborne's WHAT IF GOD WERE ONE OF US? from 1995. Still so good, so relevant. With all the troubles in our world, the song can keep us all "down to earth"--the very best place for us to be to experience God. Give it a listen and find some serenity!

NO GREATER TRUTH THAN THIS :
“What is built on violence perishes; it has no future, but it also creates a void around itself: fear, resentment, hatred—all that which, in Christian language, belongs to the world of death,” said Cardinal Pizzaballa, Roman Catholic Patriarch of Jerusalem.

Moreover, HISTORY confirms that change of government must come from a groundswell from the people within the nation or territory for it to be effective. Offensives from without rarely achieve their purpose. Remember Vietnam (Now fully Communist), Afghanistan (Taliban in control), Iraq (more stable but still with 2,500 coalition troops to limit ISIS and other terrorist groups still present in the country since 2001.

Speaking against the backdrop of continuing conflict, death, displacement, and division, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem expresses his belief that ...

The Absurdity of Congress -- No Compassion for TSA. It is time bills before Congress separate one issue and / or department from another. Catholic Charities and Saint Vincent de Paul Societies are helping with basics but paying wages for government jobs is the USA Government's responsibility.

READ THIS: Against the backdrop of a divided Congress, TSA officers are forced to work without pay as airports face extended wait times and flight delays — disruptions that are expected to worsen as lawmakers remain at an impasse.

TSA officers received roughly 30 percent of their pay in a paycheck two weeks ago, but, on Friday, they will miss their first full paycheck while still being expected to show up for work, sparking concern that staffing shortages could soon worsen once more transportation security officers (TSOs) decide to seek other employment.
