Dear preachers please be aware of this....
These days, many preachers have emerged. This is something to be joyful about.
However, one thing I have noticed recently is that... preachers are often the main ones giving people toxic and erroneous ideas.
How do they cause toxicity? When preachers preach based on their own opinions and subjective interpretations—stretching the Scriptures to fit their own agenda without making the effort to understand the true meaning—it poisons the listeners.
The biggest mistake preachers make is being overly anxious that people won't receive strength or will get bored if they preach pure truth. This is called Man-Centered Preaching.
What we must understand is that, as many ancient prophets in the Bible demonstrated, preaching the exact truth does not always result in people feeling empowered or repenting. Whether people gain strength or not is not the main issue; the primary objective is simply to declare the message God wants spoken.
First searching to discover "What is God saying in this passage?" and "What is the true intention and meaning of this Scripture?", and then passing that message along to the people—this is God-Centered Preaching.
When one fails to preach the true meaning of the Bible and instead twists it to fit their own desires, it becomes Out of Context.
Out of Context means isolating a verse without looking at its original subject matter, the surrounding context, the author's intent, or the historical background, and preaching it solely toward one's desired meaning.
The very first entity to use this method was Satan, the devil. He is, in essence, the "Father of Out of Context."
In Genesis 2:17, God commanded the first humans, Adam and Eve, that they must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, stating that in the day they ate of it, they would surely die.
In Genesis 3:4–5, Satan approached humanity through the serpent and altered God's words, saying: "You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God. That is why He forbade you."
The devil twisted God's words. How terrifying is that? Humanity listened, fell for it, and ate—and the entire human race fell into the hands of the devil and sin.
Satan used this same method to test the Lord Jesus as well.
In Matthew 4:5–6, during the time Jesus fasted for 40 days, the devil took Him to the holy city, stood Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said: "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: 'He will command His angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'
The devil was quoting Psalm 91:11–12. He was accurately quoting Scripture, but he was using it Out of Context. This passage was not meant to be applied in this manner; its original purpose and meaning were entirely different. Jesus recognized this.
Adam and Eve fell under the devil's scheme of twisting the true meaning of God's Word. Jesus, however, triumphed over it.
If we are going to preach the Word of God, let us study it thoroughly. It is extremely dangerous otherwise. God bless you.
