The Rosary Vestment Set, known as the "Gold Set," weaves the Mysteries in Latin across its chasuble and dalmatics. Each phrase is drawn from the Second Vespers hymn for the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary. In this restoration, Marianna from Sacristies of New York carefully brings the worn lettering back to life.

The chasuble inscription reads: “Ave dolens et intimo in corde agonem, verbera, spinas, crucemque Filii perpessa, princeps martyrum” (Hail, O Queen of Martyrs, sorrowing and afflicted in your inmost heart during the agony, the scourging, the crowning, and the crucifying of your Son).

Fr. Cyril agrees today is the perfect day to welcome our summer deacon, Br. Finbar! We're so exited to have him on board (and celebrate the big 3-0 with him!)

Br. Finbar was born in Woodlawn in the Bronx and grew up in Scarsdale, NY, as the second-oldest of
seven children. He graduated with a degree in Music and Economics from The Catholic
University of America in 2018 and worked as a paralegal in Washington, DC, before joining
the Order.

"I was inspired to give my life entirely to God in the Dominican Order by the Order’s motto
Contemplare et contemplata aliis tradere (“To contemplate and to give to others what has
been contemplated”). I knew that joining in the friars’ dedication to prayer and study and their
zeal to share what they had come to experience was the vocation to which God was calling
me. I am excited to continue to contemplate our Lord with you all here at St. Vincent Ferrer
and St. Catherine of Siena and to share in the friar’s preaching for the salvation of souls." - Br. Finbar

Details around St. Vincent's: Throughout our Dominican churches, carved images of vines, flowers, animals, and trees proclaim a central truth of our faith: God is the Creator of heaven and earth, and the material world is filled with His presence.

In ecclesiastical woodwork, the trees, while no longer alive, can somehow still speak to us. They show us that just as they were transformed by the hands of artisans, so too can we be transformed by the Divine Artisan. Just as this wood has been reshaped to bring glory to God, so too can we.
