For 180 years, The World Evangelical Alliance has witnessed what God can accomplish when His people serve together with one heart and one purpose.

Just as Nehemiah's people rebuilt the wall through unity, perseverance, and faith, we continue to labour alongside evangelicals around the world—strengthening the Church, advancing the Gospel, and serving communities in Christ's name.

May we remain faithful to the work God has entrusted to us, knowing that He who began a good work will carry it on to completion.

𝗪𝗘𝗔 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘆𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻

The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) welcomes the release of Pastor Nihad Hassan of the Kurdish Evangelical Church in Beirut, who was released in Aleppo on August 3.

Pastor Hassan’s detention raised concerns about religious freedom and freedom of expression. Known for his pastoral leadership and humanitarian support for displaced communities in Syria and Lebanon, his ministry has impacted many lives.

WEA is grateful to all who helped uphold justice and the rule of law, and we continue to stand with communities seeking to live out their faith in peace and freedom.

The defense of religious freedom has been part of The World Evangelical Alliance mission since its earliest days.

In 1850, the Evangelical Alliance stood with Dr. Achilli, an imprisoned evangelical who was previously a Dominican priest advocating for his freedom of belief. This marked the beginning of a long legacy of defending those persecuted for their faith. From supporting imprisoned Bible readers to speaking up for persecuted believers—and even defending the religious freedom of those with different beliefs—our commitment has remained steadfast.

For 180 years, the WEA has stood for the conviction that no one should suffer because of what they believe. As we celebrate this milestone, we continue to champion freedom of religion or belief for all.

For 180 years, The World Evangelical Alliance has been bringing together evangelicals across nations, cultures, and denominations to proclaim Christ and serve His Kingdom. As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we are reminded that our strength is found in our unity.

Today, The World Evangelical Alliance hosted a Zoom call with Affiliate Members from around the world to explore deeper collaboration and our shared vision toward 2033.

The discussion was on how WEA's 160+ National Alliances and 100+ affiliate ministries can better connect, share resources, and serve God's mission more effectively.

Rev. Botrus Mansour, Secretary General, WEA, shared a key highlight of the introduction of a pilot initiative to help alliances identify their God-given calling and connect with the right partners for greater Kingdom impact.

We're grateful for the meaningful conversations and look forward to what God will do as we continue serving together.
