A lot of our students are working toward a better job. If that's you, here are three simple things that make a big difference in an interview.
Show up early. Fifteen minutes early is on time. On time is late. Being early tells them you are serious before you even say a word.
Dress one step up from the job. If the job is in an office, wear something clean and pressed. If the job is in a warehouse or kitchen, a neat shirt and clean pants still go a long way. You do not need a suit. You need to look like you care.
Ask one question at the end. When they ask "do you have any questions for us," always have one ready. Something simple like "What does a good first month look like in this job?" It shows you are thinking about the work, not just the paycheck.
One more thing. If you have an interview coming up and you want someone to practice with, come see us. We will sit down with you, run through some questions, and help you get ready.
