Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, a non-profit governed by a diverse board including rabbis and lay leaders, aims to provide dignified Jewish funerals and lower costs by eliminating profit motives.

We offer funeral services both in the event of a recent loss and for those considering pre-planning arrangements.

OUT NOW: A New Chapter in End-of-Life Care: Medical Aid in Dying Comes to New York

On August 5, New York begins implementing one of the most significant changes to end-of-life care in its history. As the 13th state to authorize Medical Aid in Dying, New York now offers eligible terminally ill adults another option at the end of life—one rooted in personal autonomy, compassion, and carefully defined legal safeguards.

In this timely episode of Exit Strategy, Stephanie Garry speaks with Mandi Zucker, Executive Director of End of Life Choices New York and a longtime advocate whose leadership helped bring this legislation to New York. Together, they explore what the law means, who qualifies, the safeguards built into the process, and the years of advocacy that made this historic moment possible.

Join Plaza Jewish Community Chapel on Monday, August 10, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for Death Cafe, an open and compassionate gathering to talk about mortality, fear of death, and how these conversations can help us live more fully.

All are welcome at this in-person event, which will offer space for meaningful reflection, community, and connection. Light refreshments will be served. The discussion will be facilitated by Betsy Imershein, chaplain, MS, MSW, and death doula.
