Full disclosure...I'm struggling today.

Read something that said "Many people believe Christianity (read the bible) supported slavery"

Yes many people do make that claim.

Many people are also stupid.

I acknowledge that's not nice and probably should've been phrased differently but I struggle to understand how and more importantly WHY people think a just, righteous, holy God who himself said:

"I the Lord love justice and hate wrongdoing" would support abusive, exploitation, neglect, bias, racism and more in any form it should take.

The bible explicitly condemned unjust practices. Extortion. Abuse and so much more! It's like people don't actually read their bible when they read their bible.

The same people who will tell you not to curse because it's "course language" will also have no problem using their words to belittle, demean, deride and debase, and think it somehow escapes the instruction and it's intent because there wasn't a swear word in sight.

Jesus be a space ship because like ET I wanna go home! Ain't you tired yet Ms. Hilly?

Here's why I wouldn't opt out of s*x ed/lgbtq+ curriculum if it were my kid.....

Before we really get into this I will disclose that I am a follower of Christ. The God of the bible, creator of heaven and earth.

The Jesus who lived a sinless life and died on a cross for me.

Now that we got that out of the way I need us to acknowledge the reality that some people of faith are narrow minded, bigoted, and myopic. Which makes it near impossible to have open, honest, real and uncomfortable dialogue about important things at home.

Look at how many people refuse to talk about s*x, s*xuality, and birth control woth their kids. Abstinence is great and ideal but your unwillingness to engage means your kid will be out there raw do***ng it (no pun intended) should they decide to engage in s*xual activities because not only did you not teach them at home you wouldn't allow them to learn anywhere else (read school) because it's "wrong" and premarital s*x violates your beliefs.

This is not a good thing.

My job as a parent is to prepare my children for the world to the best of my ability. The world contains people who are members of the LGBTQ+ community and others who are different than we are for a variety of reasons.

My children may, throughout the course of their lives encounter and even befriend said people. I want them to be prepared.

I want them to know that not all families look like ours. I want them to know that not everyone is straight. I don't want them othering and mishandling people out of ignorance and fear couched as defending and standing for their faith.

I want my children to treat ALL people with love, kindness, respect, dignity and decency.

Even when they don't look like us.
Even when they don't think like us.
Even when they don't believe like us.
Even when they don't sound like us.
Behave life us.

If the only conversations I have with my children about people who don't fit into such a narrow box is that they are sinners in need of saving, sick, confused, going to hell, etc. How do you think my kids would've recieve them? Treat and interact with them?

There are many conversations that we need to have with our kids as parents and while this may make some folks clutch their pearls I don't bring Jesus into every single solitary conversation I have. I probably never will.

I talk about The Boss as I call him plenty, ask anyone who knows me well. And while he is the center of my life he does no dominate it to the point where I cannot discuss something without bringing my faith into it.

There are many conversations I have through the lens of my faith. Just as there are many conversations I have about life and its realities regardless of my faith.

The bible is the word of God. Many people don't believe that nor do they abide by the instructions contained in it. Both of those statements are true.

I don't have to choose one or the other. They exist in the same space.

I will end with saying that people in general and parents specifically the right to do what they see fit. If asked I would tell you I disagree and why but I wouldn't not interfere with your choice even if I wouldn't choose it for me.

Salvation is instant. Sanctification is not. You don't get to choose the order God works in.

Where are the seasoned leaders? I am by no means saying age is an automatic disqualification because God can and does use anything but I need to know you WALK WITH GOD!

Can we stop elevating gifting and anointing over process, character, development and being further along in the sanctification process?

I'm gifted. I'm anointed. I am a Prophet of the Living God....BUT it wasn't until I matured and was processed that he began to use me more heavily.

Has God always used me? Yes. From as young as 4-5 years old.

Did it always look like what it does today? No..because I. WAS. NOT. READY.

Things I need more people to understand:

1. The difference between micro & macro

2. Your experience is just that...YOUR experience. Not mine, not the masses, and in the world of statistics it is so infinitesimal it's not worth noting.

3. Truth & reality outside of your opinion exists.

4. Inherent truth vs. a truism.

5. You do not know everything! If you don't have the requisite 10000 hours PLEASE do not try to position yourself as an expert. You're half baked at best which is why the people around you are unwell.

6. WIDSOM & DISCERNMENT are VITAL for living.

7. Could and should are two different words with two different meanings. Learn them.

8. You want to be a moral authority then I want to run through your life with a fine toothed comb.

9. Stop saying you love people when you really just

A. Tolerate people who make you look good
B. Need to be needed
C. Are looking for a photo op
D. Don't realize love is an action word not merely a feeling.

10. If you been "walking with the Lord" for 10+ years and I can't see or feel him when I come into contact with you....maybe it's time to get out of other people's business so you can get in with God because CLEARLY something is askew.

There are many people preaching THAT Christ is coming back, but not LIKE He's coming back.

Many need fresh oil and new new strategies. The world is changing and has changed. If you think the Lord doesn't know that and isn't prepared to equip you with ALL you need to navigate the terrain and steward the people assigned you, you are mistaken.

Memory repost that I couldn't share:

Serving the Lord: A LIFETIME commitment not a ONE TIME commitment.

My 'Yes' when I came back to the Lord is not the same as when I was contemplating taking my life and had to sit down and COUNT THE COST. I had to admit hurt, discouragement, face my true feelings and be honest about the fact that I had come to a place where I did not want to go on or feel that I even should. I'd gone far enough, nothing further was needed, I gave all I was going to give.

But then I had to think about the Lord and what I've come through, and what he said, and what would happen if I chose that road. Like the allegory Hinds Feet on High Places every stone of remembrance was one that I couldn't part with. So I chose in spite of ALL to continue my journey with the Lord; despite the way the year began, how it progressed, and the way it still is now. Some people would judge me and to those my question is this:

If you faced the possibility of your oldest child being arrested & kicked out of school, your second child being s*xually assaulted twice, a major health issue, contrary diagnosis, were asked to lay down the promise, almost lost your job and had your spouse removed from your home all within a 6 month period what would you do? Would you, could you still say yes to God? I don't ask that question because I'm better than anyone but we're all very full of opinions until it's us that life has happened to.

Last I checked being a follower of Christ doesn't mean my days are going to be filled with blue skies and sunshine; in fact it's quite the opposite. I truly thank God for what he has done in my life and the ability to stand. If it wasn't for Almighty God I'd be in hell right now, my kids wouldn't have a mother, and my husband wouldn't have a wife. I would have died by my own hand on July 9, 2016.

Go argue with your mama! I said what I said.

I'm pretty sure the big book on How to Win Souls and Influence People (you know the BIBLE) does not include weaponizing, badgering, name calling, harassment or imposing your will, ways and values as appropriate methods for spreading the gospel.

Maybe instead of condemning people to hell we should tell them about the God who longs to know them, be in fellowship with them, and sit on the throne of their heart.

Maybe we need to tell them they haven't gone too far, done too much, that God can still and more importantly WANTS TO reach them. That he is still in the business of saving to the uttemost.

Maybe instead of focusing on certain types of sin we can condemn ALL sin without touching the people committing it unless it is an ACTUAL crime.

Maybe we should tell folks about the God who will love us the way we ALL long to be loved. Unreservedly. Completely. Without end. Maybe we should tell people about the God who did something for us, instead of the many gods we need to appease.

Maybe, just maybe we should start telling people to go to church anyway. Maybe we need to tell people they don't have to "get right" to come to God but instead come just as they are because He won't leave them the same.

Maybe we should tell people that a relationship with Christ saves your soul as opposed to granting an automatic "get out if life free" card where nothing bad or tragic ever happens and your never go through anything or face hard times.

Maybe we should be honest and tell folks that "Yes" can be more costly than "No".

Maybe we should be honest and tell people they will not always like, understand or agree with the path God has chosen for them. Maybe we should tell them that despite the sheer and occasional GHETTONESS (my personal term for it) of walking with God (see last comments about it veing costly) is actually very much worth it. Even when nothing looks like what he said and you don't see a way out or know what's going to happen next or when.

Maybe we should tell people about the sweetness and tender moments. How he sets the wrong things right and speaks so gently to our hearts, minds, and spirits.

Maybe we need to tell people that dying to self is a PROCESS. Death by crucifixion (TAKE UP YOUR CROSS) can range anywhere from hours to days (multiply that by one life and you get the picture) it is PAINFUL to lay down your very real wants, needs, and desires. Maybe you should be honest and tell folks they will have to learn how to steward disappointment.

Maybe we should tell people that the presence of evil and the abuse of free will prove there IS a God in heaven not the opposite.

Sin isn't bad for you because it's wrong. It is wrong because it is bad for you and results in many of the things we detest about the world and the people in it.

Knowing all it would cost and cause God still gave us the ability to say "yes, I will" or "No, I won't l"

God is a gentleman. He will not take what he wants from us. However, with chronic lack of response he will stop asking.

Sin is not bad because it is wrong. It is wrong because it is bad.

With the wages of sin being death, and the impact of sin being what it is, personally and otherwise..... Why would a loving God and heavenly father whose desire is for ALL to know him endorse and/or condone what will lead us further from him?

Yes, hell is real. People are there and unfortunately continue to go there COMMA HOWEVER imma ask your last name and buy you a drink BEFORE I condemn you to eternal damnation.......actually I'm not going condemn to eternal damnation at all. Not my job. Not my place.

I'm going treat you like a person. I'm going to love you. I'm going to listen to understand. You don't always need words to preach and many people need to remember that because I don't wanna follow some of y'all as you follow Christ because you're actually rotten fruit.

If I as a firm believer feel this way how to you think an unbeliever would feel? I didn't come to know Christ because I was afraid of hell.......I came to know Christ because someone loved me enough to tell me that He loved me MORE.
