Our Story

Frederick Douglass Memorial Park Inc., established in 1935, is under new management. This historic African American cemetery is located in the Oakwood Heights neighborhood of Staten Island and features rolling hills and a magnificent, serene park-like setting.

We are pleased to offer our newest area for service; a dedicated cremation garden which is prominently located near the main office. We have new full grave plots available for immediate use.

In the beginning....

Frederick Douglass Memorial Park (FDMP). Was conceived during the great depression of the early 1930s and founded as a protest against the custom of segregating the dead on a basis of race and color.
