FIRST WATCH
August 25,2026
THE EVENING WATCH — 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.

A Time of Quiet Reflection and Prayer

The Evening Watch is a time to draw away from the distractions of the day, reflect on God’s Word, and seek His presence through prayer. Jesus often withdrew to pray, demonstrating the importance of intentional times of communion with God (Matthew 14:15–23). During this period, Jesus also ministered healing to many who were sick (Mark 1:32; Luke 4:40).

This watch can be a strategic time of prayer for believers who have been called to intercession, spiritual warfare, and ministry. It is an opportunity to seek God with boldness, exercise spiritual authority according to His Word, and stand in prayer for individuals, families, the church, communities, and nations.

A Period for Covenant Renewal with God

Through Jesus Christ, we have entered into a new covenant with God. The Evening Watch provides an intentional opportunity to renew our commitment to God, reflect on His promises, and pray for the manifestation of His will and blessings in our lives.

During this watch, we can:

* Seek God’s presence and direction.
* Repent and ask God for forgiveness.
* Renew our commitment to walk in obedience to His Word.
* Pray over our families, homes, churches, communities, and nations.
* Intercede against spiritual opposition and every work that is contrary to God’s will.
* Decree God’s Word and promises over the coming hours and the new day.
* Pray for protection, wisdom, discernment, provision, healing, and spiritual strength.

The evening watch can serve as a spiritual foundation for the watches that follow. Rather than being driven by fear of darkness or the activities of others, we approach this time with confidence in God, knowing that “greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

As we enter the Evening Watch, let us allow the Holy Spirit to lead our prayers. We do not pray from fear, but from faith. We do not give darkness authority over our lives; we stand firmly upon the authority of Jesus Christ and the truth of God’s Word.

Prayer Focus:
“Lord, establish Your covenant, order my steps, cover my family, strengthen Your Church, and let Your will be established in my life, this night, and in the day ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

THE FOURTH WATCH

The Morning Watch (3:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.)

What Is the Fourth Watch?

The Fourth Watch is the final watch of the night, from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. In Scripture, this period is associated with God’s intervention, deliverance, protection, and preparation for a new day. Many believers dedicate this time to prayer because it is quiet and allows them to seek God before the day’s activities begin.

Why Is the Fourth Watch Important?

The Fourth Watch reminds us that God is working even when the night is ending. It is a time to seek His presence, surrender our plans, and commit the day into His hands.

The Bible records several significant events connected with this time:

* God delivered Israel from Egypt and defeated Pharaoh’s army (Exodus 12; Exodus 14).
* Jesus walked on the water during the fourth watch to rescue His disciples during the storm (Matthew 14:25–33).
* Psalm 19:2 reminds us that each new day declares God’s glory and gives us another opportunity to walk in His purpose.

These passages encourage us to begin each day with faith, expecting God to lead, protect, and strengthen us.

Command Your Morning

Job 38:12 asks:

“Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place?” (KJV)

To command your morning means to begin your day by agreeing with God’s Word through prayer. Instead of allowing fear, worry, or discouragement to shape your day, you invite God’s peace, wisdom, and direction to take first place.

Jesus also taught the importance of being spiritually alert:

“But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched…” (Matthew 24:43, KJV)

This reminds believers to remain spiritually watchful and prepared.

What Should We Pray During the Fourth Watch?

During this prayer watch, you can:

* Thank God for the gift of a new day.
* Repent of any known sins and ask for a clean heart.
* Invite the Holy Spirit to lead every decision you make.
* Pray for God’s protection over yourself, your family, your church, your workplace, and your community.
* Ask God for wisdom, favor, strength, and good health.
* Pray that His will—not your own—will be accomplished throughout the day.
* Intercede for those who are sick, discouraged, unsaved, or in need.
* Pray that every assignment God has for you will be fulfilled.
* Declare God’s promises over your life using Scripture.

Declaring God’s Word

God’s Word has power to strengthen our faith and renew our minds.

Job 22:27–28 says:

“Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee… Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee…” (KJV)

As we pray according to God’s will, we can confidently declare His promises over our lives, trusting Him to accomplish His purposes.

Practical Application

You do not have to pray for three hours to benefit from the Fourth Watch. Even 15–30 minutes of sincere prayer can transform your day.

A simple pattern is:

1. Worship and thank God.
2. Read a portion of Scripture.
3. Repent and ask for God’s cleansing.
4. Pray for yourself and your family.
5. Intercede for others.
6. Declare God’s promises.
7. Listen quietly for the Holy Spirit’s direction before beginning your day.

Key Scriptures

* Exodus 12
* Exodus 14
* Matthew 14:25–33
* Matthew 24:43
* Job 22:27–28
* Job 38:12
* Psalm 5:3
* Psalm 19:2
* Psalm 91
* Lamentations 3:22–23
* Mark 1:35

Closing Encouragement

The Fourth Watch is not about following a ritual or believing that God only answers prayers between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Rather, it is an opportunity to seek the Lord with a focused heart, dedicate the day to Him, and trust Him to guide, protect, and strengthen you. As you begin each day in God’s presence, you invite His peace, wisdom, and favor to lead you in every step.

FIFTH WATCH
(The Early Morning Watch – 6:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M.
A Time of Strength, Renewal, and Preparation

The Fifth Watch marks the beginning of a new day. It is a time to seek God’s presence, receive fresh strength, and prepare for the assignments He has given us. As the sun rises, we are reminded that Jesus Christ, the Son of Righteousness, shines His light upon His people, bringing healing, hope, and victory.

“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”
— Malachi 4:2 (KJV)

A Time for Divine Strength

This watch is a time to ask God to renew your spiritual, emotional, and physical strength. Pray for endurance, wisdom, and grace to accomplish His will throughout the day.

Scripture References:

* Psalm 5:3
* Isaiah 40:31
* Psalm 143:8
* Acts 2:15

A Time to Pray for Healing and Restoration

As the day begins, bring every area of your life before the Lord.

Pray for:

* Healing in your body
* Restoration of relationships
* Unity in families
* Salvation of loved ones
* Government leaders
* The economy
* Peace in your community and nation

A Time to Be Equipped by the Holy Spirit

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost occurred around the third hour of the day (about 9:00 A.M.), empowering believers for ministry.

“For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.”
— Acts 2:15 (KJV)

Before stepping into your daily responsibilities, ask the Holy Spirit to:

* Fill you with His power.
* Guide your decisions.
* Give you wisdom and discernment.
* Strengthen you to serve others.
* Produce the fruit of the Spirit in your life.
* Open doors for ministry and divine opportunities.

Scripture References:

* Ephesians 4:11–12
* Acts 1:8
* Galatians 5:22–23
* Isaiah 50:4

Prayer Focus

* Thanksgiving for a new day.
* Fresh anointing and strength.
* Divine guidance and protection.
* Healing and restoration.
* Wisdom for every decision.
* Favor at work, school, and in ministry.
* Boldness to witness for Christ.
* Revival in the Church and the nations.

Declaration
“This is the day which the Lord hath made; I will rejoice and be glad in it. I am strengthened by the Lord, filled with His Holy Spirit, and equipped to fulfill His purpose. The Son of Righteousness rises over me with healing in His wings. I walk in wisdom, favor, protection, and victory through Jesus Christ. Amen.” (Psalm 118:24)

Note: The original reference to “2 Corinthians 9:30” is not valid because 2 Corinthians has only 13 chapters. The theme of being equipped for service is more accurately supported by Ephesians 4:11–12, Acts 1:8, and Acts 2:15–18.
