Anastasia Council #5911- Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 by a 29 year old parish priest, Father Michael J. Mary's Church in New Haven , Connecticut. Today, more than a century later, the Knights of Columbus has become the largest lay organiazation in the Catholic Church. The Order has been called "the strong right arm of the church" and has been praised by Popes,

Presidents, and other world leaders, for support of the church. Anastasia Knights of Columbus Council #5911 was charatered by the Supreme Council in 1966. We are committed to the exemplification of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. In our council you will find brother Knights working to fulfill the central mission of the Order; striving in charitable works; serving the Church and unified in following its teachings; supporting brother knights in their temporal and spiritual needs; acting for the good of their country, and giving aid to widows, orphans, the sick, and the poor. following are some of the organizations/groups we support:

Father McGivney Home for Children and Young adults
St. Anastasia RC Church
Little Neck/Douglaston Ambulance Corps

Dear Brothers, It has just come to my attention as reported by th Queens Chronicle and posted on St Anastasia FB page that St Anastasia rectory was broken in to. The NYPD Captain ,John Portalatini of the 111 pct said, At approximately 145 a.m. friday morning Sept 2nd three hispanic men between the ages of 30 and 40 entered a door in the back of the rectory. The faces of the suspects are on that FB page. The suspects took a safe containing credit cards and $125. The NYPD thought this could be an inside job being Rev. David Dettmer was to be away for the weekend. The suspects fled the church on 245th street in a light color SUV. I.m asking for now for all my brothers to pray for St Anastasia Parish and for the capture of the suspects. Also post comments on ST Anastasia FB page Vivat Jesu Fred Bedell GK

Dear Brothers, Clergy, Friends and relatives, I have just written this letter and have sent this to local, and regional newspapers and including the tablet. The American flag was originally adoptedby the Continental Congress on June 14th, 1777. Flag Day wasn't officially recognized until proposed by Congress and signed into law by President Trumn in 1949. The week of june 14th is designated as, "National Flag Week". I therefore urge that the American flag be displayed outside homes, apartments, offices, businesses and stores throughout the United States. We do this to honor all that our country represents which is freedom, equality and justice for all. these principles and ideas are embodied in the American Flag. We should also do this to show honor and respect for all our brave men and women who are serving our nation today. And also, all those over the years who gve their lives to preserve our cherished freedoms. Our American Flag is the fabric of our country and by flying the American Flag we can be reminded that we prevail against all adversity. So please fly the American Flag on tuesday June 14th and remember this too: these colors of red, white, and blue DON'T RUN. Now may God Bless America

Sincerely Yours,
Frederick R. Bedell jr.

Dear Brothers: I have just written this letterand have sent this to local newspapers including the tablet. A fire on Sunday in Brooklyn has caused the death of one of our bravest in the FDNY, his name is Timothy Klien. This is truly a sad day for the FDNY. He died fighting a blaze with fellow firefighters. As reported eight other firefighters were injured in this fire. As Grand Knight of St. Anastasia Knights of Columbus Council #5911 in Douglaston, where many of our members in New York Stste are firefighters, Police officers and first responders and as such offer our heartfelt prayerstotheir families and fellow firefighters at this time. Let me also say that Timothy Klien gave his life protecting others as all of our bravestdo daily when they go to a fire and not knowing whether they eill get injured or lose their lives. May God protect our Bravest protecting all our lives. Sincerely Yours Frederick R Bedell Jr. Bellerose, NY
